✨Celebrating planning consent granted for our project on Lady Margaret Road, in Camden’s Kentish Town Conservation Area! ✨

Studio Catenaccio’s proposals for this Victorian semi-detached house rework earlier rear extensions, replacing awkward, cluttered lean-to roofs with clean forms tucked behind neat soldier-coursed brick parapets. New Crittal-style garden doors and windows are period-appropriate, while emphasising connection to the garden and distinguishing the rear extensions from the original building.

At the top of the house, a new rear dormer extension along with an enlarged side dormer to the main hipped roof will allow space for a full bedroom suite, with improved natural light and head-height for the access stairs, improving the loft’s connection to the rooms below.

Refined detailing in traditional materials, paired with careful reorganisation of the ground floor layout, will create a brighter, warmer and more functional home that sits comfortably in its historic setting.

In celebration of our friend and his appearance on Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year last night, here’s a detail of Simon’s view of Dartmouth Park from the Heath, which sits on our office mantelpiece. We love how the green pops against our orange-red walls and resonates with the many plants in the room. The familiar scene feels almost like an extra window—a portal onto a favourite north London place and reminder to take a break and go outside every so often!

Concept sketch for our extension and renovation project in Brentwood, Essex, exploring design of the renovated basement boot room and utility. Instead of excavating the entire low head-height space, which would require structural underpinning, we proposed more limited excavation of a circulation route, resulting in a plinth at the existing floor level to be used as seating, for storage, and to lift the washer and dryer to a more comfortable access height. Perspective sketches offer insight into the experiential qualities of the spaces we create, helpful for clients—and also for us!

Detail of colours and finishes in the guest bedroom at . Mixing pastels and brights makes bold colour combinations feel fresh and invigorating, not overbearing. Here, a lush green philodendron in a gloss-turquoise pot adorns the Victorian mantlepiece, beside a bold homage to Ellsworth Kelly, casually leaned against the peachy-pink wall.

Throwback to our first project, a 1960s flat in Dartmouth Park, north London. Here, the newly-formed living room opens onto the kitchen and dining room beyond. Swipe for the before!

This thoughtful renovation reconfigured the original floorplan, with its traditional segregation of spaces and long, narrow hallway, to create an open and contemporary living space. By relocating the kitchen and removing a partition wall, the living, dining, and kitchen areas now flow seamlessly. Original hardwood parquet floors were preserved, with colourful accents and bespoke furniture all adding character and functionality to the interiors.

Technical drawings are crucial for coordinating the many elements of kitchens and bathrooms, often the most complex spaces in a home. Clear, coordinated design information leads to great results, saving both time and cost.

For this kitchen, the workshop and backsplash are natural stone, specified and sourced by Studio Catenaccio. The oak larder, designed by Studio Catenaccio and built by the contractor, adds warmth and character. Other kitchen storage was sourced from various suppliers and modified on-site to create a bespoke look on a budget— all made possible through the detailed technical design process, and coordinated in the drawings!
