We wanted maximum impact with minimal material. For the Global Change Awards Alumni Exhibition, blue and white fabric flows through the space, echoing weaving and garment factories - a nod to the textile industry connecting all the sustainable fashion innovators on show.

We used raw, reusable materials like cardboard tubes and straps, and the fabric itself is recycled. Lightweight and transportable, the installation will travel to Sweden after London. Elements from our previous exhibition design, Taste of Tomorrow, were also repurposed in the concept store - keeping circular design at the heart of the project.

is a vibrant hub dedicated to material innovation, sustainability, and storytelling. When designing its café, it was essential that we seamlessly integrate these values into the space, creating an experience as innovative as the showroom it inhabits.

We asked ourselves: what if the café furniture could be crafted from the waste of coffee shops? Partnering with , we turned coffee grounds into bespoke furniture, giving counters and surfaces a tactile, warm quality that reflects both the material's origins and its transformation into something new.

In keeping with Fabrica X's dynamic and ever-evolving nature, the café is designed to adapt.
Inspired by the mechanism of a bicycle chain, the café can be reconfigured to suit various uses-from daytime coffee service to a lively evening event bar. Sliding tambour screens enhance this versatility, sliding around to public-facing areas.

Swing by and feel the coffee! ☕

Studentville, imagined as a roof sheltering 52 students, is shaped by the challenges of its site, with a staggered form that adapts to the sloping terrain while breaking down the building’s scale.
This approach lets natural light reach deeper into the site and creates a rhythm of volumes that respond to the surrounding context.

Inside, warm birch finishes and sustainably sourced materials define the spaces. Communal areas encourage interaction, while en-suite rooms with private balconies offer a sense of retreat. Every detail - from the terracotta roof to the carefully framed views - contributes to a design that balances privacy, community, and efficiency.

Fitting 52 Student Rooms into a Challenging Site

Studentville sits on an awkward, sloping L-shaped site with a central pinch point—an interface between two contrasting scales: traditional small farmhouses with terracotta roof tiles and bulky, boxy new-build residential blocks.

Our challenge was to maximise efficiency while responding to these two different urban conditions. By breaking the volume into smaller segments, we created a more sympathetic composition, allowing natural light to reach deeper into the site. This external segmentation also defines the interior experience, shaping spaces like the corridors and inspiring details such as the birch reception desk.

🟠🟠🟠 At Beam Camp 2023, we developed seeAsaw, a playful yet thought-provoking installation made from upcycled fishing nets. This project explores how architecture can serve as a tool for raising awareness about ocean pollution. By using ghost nets, previously a threat to marine life, we turned waste into something interactive and engaging. Through design, we aim to tackle global environmental challenges while promoting sustainability in every detail of our work.

🕸️ seeAsaw, built for Beam Camp 2023, consists of six interconnected seesaws linked by a suspended hammock made from discarded fishing nets. The project challenges us to reflect on the balance between play, sustainability, and design’s role in addressing environmental concerns. By transforming ghost nets—once dangerous to marine ecosystems—into an interactive structure, we demonstrate how architecture can help tackle the growing issue of ocean pollution.🟠

Step inside 'Homegrown Wonderland' and experience a world where architecture and nature intertwine. 🍄🏠 With walls that dance with organic mycelium bricks and a roof that stretches outwards, this pavilion creates a psychedelic effect that plays with your senses.

The pavilion's enchanting design, engineered by , explores themes of domesticity, familiarity, and surprise. It juxtaposes a quaint, aged timber cottage frame, scaled down to create an intimate setting, with unexpected organic walls made from full-sized mycelium bricks. Doors and windows salvaged from local homes in New York further enhance its feeling of the familiar within the pavilion’s setting.

Visit this pavilion until October 27, 2024 at the New York Botanical Gardens, alongside works by Yoko Ono, Carsten Holler and Patrick Jacobs amongst others.

Discover 'Homegrown Wonderland' at 🌿🏠 Inspired by the magical moments in Carroll's story, the pavilion features bricks grown from mycelium, the root structure of mushrooms. 🍄 This choice reflects the scene where Alice consumes a mushroom and grows rapidly, evoking a whimsical transformation as she outgrows the White Rabbit's cottage. Designed by , engineered by , and grown by , it explores domesticity with a twist, blending the familiar with the unexpected.

Two weeks ago at , the streets came alive with vibrant colors and the spirit of unity as we marched with the Architecture LGBT+ centerpiece that we designed. Our float, 'Home in Every Hue,' wasn't just a colourful beacon; it was a collective statement on the importance of shelter and inclusion for everyone in our society.

Marching in Pride is more than a tradition; it’s a vital expression of our collective fight for equality and visibility. In a world where LGBTQ+ individuals still face significant challenges, including homelessness and discrimination, taking to the streets is a reminder of our resilience and our commitment to a more inclusive future.

The joy, laughter, and solidarity captured by the most talented .odonovan encapsulate the essence of why Pride matters. It was a day filled with love, hope, and the unwavering belief that everyone deserves a safe space to call home.

A huge thank you to our sponsors and , Focus Logistics, , , and all the incredible volunteers from who made this possible. Your support and hard work brought our vision to life.

To support LGBTQ+ homelessness, please consider donating to and . Every contribution makes a difference.

Happy Pride! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

This year we've been commissioned by the and to design an architectural centerpiece for London Pride 2024.

'Home in every Hue' celebrates the diversity and spectrum of identity, and highlights the importance of shelter and housing for all within our towns and cities.

Home should be a safe space for everyone, but unfortunately for many it still isn't. In the UK 24% of homeless young people identify as LGBTQ+.

Our design envisions a rainbow canopy moving along the parade, changing shape and providing shade, followed by handheld placards in the progress colours. The draping fabrics span between house-shaped structures made from reclaimed timber palettes and scaffold boards from construction sites.

Come and see us at the parade! Starting at Hyde Park Corner at 12 noon and ending at Whitehall Place around 6pm!

To support LGBTQ+ homelessness please donate to and who do incredible work supporting LGBTQ+ youth and refugees. 🏳️‍🌈

A huge colourful thank you to our sponsors and , the and especially all the volunteers at architecture LGBT+ and Focus Logistics who made this happen!! Big shout-out to for hosting the painting day! 🌈
