With over 15 years’ experience in world-class lifestyle and residential lighting design, Gerardo brings to Light IQ a wealth of knowledge and expertise to lead the established and award winning design team. We aim for excellence in everything we do, whether it is the lighting for a private garden in the English countryside or the luxurious interiors of a 5-star hotel in Mexico, our passion is to deliver beautiful lighting design and to ensure our clients’ expectations are exceeded.

Balancing heritage and modernity with masterful precision, takes home the Guestrooms award at AHEAD Europe 2025




Once a storied Grand Tour stop, the revived hotel in Rome reimagines its historic setting with a sense of intimacy and refinement. Designed by for and Barletta Group, the guestrooms are crafted as sensorial sanctuaries — each one bespoke, with 97 unique layouts shaped by heritage constraints and artisanal precision. Roman plaster walls, travertine, blown glass and warm leathers evoke a narrative of travel and time, while custom furnishings and hand-painted headboards transform each stay into a personal journey. 

Judges commended the project’s “extraordinary use of geometry and pattern” and “convincing blend of historic references.” They praised its materiality, authenticity and meticulous craftsmanship — calling it “authentic and unmistakably Italian,” a “rich, coherent” design where every detail, texture and colour contributes to a layered sense of place.

Reawakening one of Rome’s most storied addresses, ’s design unfolds beneath a soaring glass dome where travertine, painted ceilings and sculpted bas-reliefs form a dialogue between heritage and modernity. Balancing precision with warmth, the space channels the elegance of grand travel through nuanced materials, tactile detail and poetic restraint — fresh by day, intimate by night. 

Judges praised its “beautiful warmth and layering” and “excellent sense of place,” calling it “a benchmark for how a hotel bar should be.” They highlighted its “restrained and respectful intervention,” “orchestration of materials and textures,” and “melancholic beauty” — a bar that feels timeless yet alive with atmosphere.
