make:good An architecture & design studio engaging with communities to create positive change in their neighbou

Talk
We spend time talking to the people who live, work or play in an area, finding out what they think about their surroundings and what we can collectively do to make positive change. We ask questions in fun, creative and surprising ways, to get exciting, useful and thoughtful answers. Think
The insights from those conversations define the priorities of the community for place, space and neighbo

urhood. From those, we work corroboratively to discuss changes or designs, facilitating projects rather than leading them; local people are fully involved in the whole process and where possible, involved in the fabrication. Shape
Before we reach final decisions or designs, we prototype and test them using cheap and cheerful materials, allowing us to get feedback, and to tweak and change the ideas until they fit perfectly. Make
When the output is physical or digital we work with specialist contractors to manufacture and install pieces. Inspire
Once the changes are in place, we help project groups to think about what they can do next, ensuring the projects become catalysts for further conversations.

We want to hear from you! Have your say and help shape priorities for the future of the Old Nursery Site in West Ham Park.

What’s next for West Ham Park Old Nursery Site?
The West Ham Park charity want to bring this part of West Ham Park back into use with community facilities, operational facilities and new open space. These improvements would be funded by designating 50% of the nursery site for housing, which would also provide a vital funding source for the charity to manage and improve other areas of the park.

How can you get involved?
This is an exciting opportunity to tell us your priorities for new community facilities, new public open space and more. We will be at the park to speak to you soon but in the meantime, tell us your ideas online:

About the project:
Network Rail is preparing a masterplan for up to 30 acres of brownfield land at Bow Goods Yard in Stratford, right next to Pudding Mill Lane DLR.
Between June 2023 - early 2024 we want to work with local communities and our design team to develop a masterplan that meets the needs of existing and future communities. There aren’t any detailed designs yet and we are still working out what is possible. We want to understand the area and your priorities to help influence what is designed. Follow the link in bio to our survey or get in touch with [email protected] to find out more!

A shared experience (as opposed to a product) can be a lovely gift at this time of year that seems to revolve around 'stuff'. For example this ceramics workshop we had as our Christmas team day out in 2020 - not only therapeutic making something with our hands, but at the end we had these imperfectly perfect little pots to show off - to keep or to give to someone else.
