๐ŸŒฑ Exciting developments are happening in the Neasdon area of Brent! ๐ŸŒฑ

Our project is evolving in collaboration with the local community in West London, Neasdon area. Earlier this year, during our initial consultation and co-design sessions, the community expressed a desire for spaces dedicated to food growing, wildlife, relaxation, and learning. In response, we're planning to create an intergenerational, multi-use community garden on this part of the land owned by Peabody.

Urban Growth is leading the community engagement work in partnership with council for this project. Together, we deliver community consultations and co-design sessions for the new space. The next step will be to create and build the garden, hopefully followed by regular gardening club sessions.

Our latest co-design workshop on May 11th was a huge success! It was lead by our partner Leap London and supported by , on a beautiful sunny Saturday. Together we welcomed 40 enthusiastic visitors who were thrilled to see this area open again after so many years. The excitement for the upcoming garden was palpable!

We presented two garden design options and invited the community to provide feedback and help prioritise garden features. Attendees enjoyed refreshments and took home plants to nurture and eventually bring back to the garden. People of all ages joined in, and the day concluded with an impromptu intergenerational nature art club!

We ๐—น๐—ผ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ this project because we were brought in early in the redesign process, ensuring that the local residents have ๐˜๐—ฟ๐˜‚๐—ฒ, ๐—บ๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด๐—ณ๐˜‚๐—น ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ณ๐—น๐˜‚๐—ฒ๐—ป๐—ฐ๐—ฒ over what is happening in their space. It was a fantastic event, filled with positive vibes and community spirit. We can't wait to see this garden come to life! ๐ŸŒฟโœจ

There's something truly magical about spending time immersed in nature .. feeling the sun on your face, ..listening to the gentle rustle of leaves, ..marvelling at the beauty of a starry sky,
Nature has a way of nourishing us from the inside out. It's in those moments of quiet reflection, surrounded by the wonders of the natural world, that we find peace, clarity, and a deep sense of connection to something greater than ourselves.

Sometimes we just need a reminder of this!

We want to tell you why we think creating and caring for edible living gardens is important.. especially in dense urban areas like London. We all know it's healthy to eat fresh fruits and vegetables but there are a lot more reasons to celebrate these gardens! It's all in our latest blog post. You can check it out on our website urbangrowth.london and in link-in-bio.

Edible living gardens encourage the consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables, improving dietary habits and overall health. They offer a direct connection to the food people eat, promoting better nutrition and wellness.

This week at Paulet Estate garden, we welcomed our regular volunteers who helped plant courgettes, cucumbers, leeks, tomatoes, basil, cabbage, aubergine, sweet pepper, corn, and beans. That's a lot of vegetables!

A big thank you to everyone who came out to support this initiative. Your hard work and dedication are helping to cultivate a healthier, more sustainable community.

We're partnering with the Churchill Garden Youth Club in Westminster, located in West London. Supported by Westminster City Council and The Pimlico Million, this is an ongoing 3-year initiative where we work with youth, local residents, and local schools.

This month, our longstanding lead gardener, Taye, was joined by 9 teenage boys. They weeded most of the beds and watered them. Additionally, they sowed carrots, courgettes, cucumber, sunflower, lettuce, and tomatoes, ensuring everything was properly watered. These sessions provide an opportunity for young people in the area to come together and work on a joint positive initiative.

Unfortunately, this project is coming to an end. However, we're actively seeking new funding to build on the success of these first years. We aim to involve more local schools and offer an after-school club.

For this month's gardening session at Eastfields Garden in South London, our lead gardener, Taye, was joined by four growers. Together, they diligently sowed tomatoes, cucumbers, marigolds, courgettes, beetroots, and coriander, ensuring each plant received the care it needed. Additionally, they installed writing boards beside the beds to inform visitors about the plant varieties.

These regular sessions hold significant value beyond gardening. They provide an opportunity for people to connect with nature, work together, and contribute to positive changes in their environment.

A heartfelt thank you to housing for their support in making these sessions possible.

Hi, Anna here. I'm the Managing Director at Urban Growth, and I have BIG news to share! Urban Growth has been honoured with a King's Award for Enterprise for Sustainable Development.

The Kingโ€™s Awards for Enterprise are given by the Kingโ€™s office and celebrate the success of exciting and innovative businesses. The awards recognise organisations that lead the way with pioneering products or services, deliver impressive social mobility programmes, or show their commitment to excellent sustainable development practices. Urban Growth was awarded for its work and commitment to nature, sustainability and community engagement in London. This is a major win for Urban Growth. What better way to celebrate the companyโ€™s 10th anniversary!

We are extremely grateful for the support of our longstanding partners, including Clarion Housing, Hyde Housing, Westminster Council, Wates, Igloo Regeneration, Zipcar, Linda McCartney and our community partners doing important work, such as Brixton Bid, Tranquil City, The Remakery, 3Space, Social Enterprise UK, Impact Hub, and many more over the last 10 years.

With this award under our belt, we hope to attract larger support from courageous companies that are willing to lead the way with us in the coming years; so that our vision where everyone in the city is connected to nature becomes a reality for all.

A big thank you to our talented team of collaborators, staff, and board members, who work tirelessly to achieve more impact every day.

We had a wonderful day with the Starbucks staff team kindly offering their time to help us refresh one of our signature garden in South London: the Paulet Estate Garden, located right next to the wonderful maker-space The Remakery.

10 Starbucks volunteers, including our partner Hubbub representatives, spruced up the garden: weeding, pruning, mulching, edging and planting up edibles and ornamentals.

This garden is one of the long-standing site that we work on on a regular basis. We're always seeking for companies staff to come help us out. Please DM or email us at [email protected] if you want to receive our leaflet with pricing options.

Success at Huggins Corner! Swipe left to see the amazing transformation of this space in South London (the last photo is before our intervention!)

We completed this project in the Winter, and weโ€™re seeing it in bloom now. But the true triumph lies in the community spirit. Thanks to the locals who shared these stunning Spring photos, showcasing their love for the new garden.

This project is a win because:
โœ… It is Community-led: Residents initiated and supported the project.
โœ… developed Local partnership: We teamed up with nearby businesses, including
โœ… enhanced Biodiversity: we used Diverse plants and the richest, highest quality soil to enrich the local wildlife.

And.. there is a long-term vision for the garden: residents raised money so they could hire Urban Growth to deliver occasional gardening club sessions for 2 years, so they are learning how to take care of the garden for the long term.

Thanks to our partner
