Colour psychology is often misunderstood.

It is not simply about filling a room with bold colours, dramatic contrasts or playful patterns.

Real colour psychology is far more personal than that.

Every person responds to colour differently, because colours are deeply connected to memory, emotion, personality and the way we want to feel inside a space.

For one person, deep green may feel grounding and calming. For another, the same colour may feel dark or heavy.

A warm neutral can feel comforting and cocooning to some, while others may experience it as flat or uninspiring.

This is why colour psychology in interior design should never be trend-led.

It should be guided by the people who live within the space.

Because colour is not just visual, but it changes the way a space feels.

And the most successful interiors are rarely the loudest ones. They are the ones that feel deeply right for the person living in them.

We’re finally enjoying a full week of summer weather in the UK — the perfect excuse to gather friends and family and entertain at home.

There’s nothing better than an open-plan kitchen flowing seamlessly into the garden, creating a beautiful sense of space while letting natural light flood in.

These are the moments great design is made for.

What are your plans for the weekend?

Is craftsmanship and human dedication still important?

Absolutely.
Especially in a time where we are surrounded by fast AI, automation and an increasingly computerised society.

Last week I had the pleasure to visit the factory of Samuel Heath, and it was genuinely inspiring to see the level of dedication behind every detail.

The precision.
The human touch.
The care that goes into making something properly.

In luxury interiors, true quality is rarely only about appearance.
It is about the hands behind the process, the years of expertise, the attention to detail and the pride in creating something that lasts.

Watching materials being shaped, finished and assembled by skilled craftspeople is a reminder that design still needs humanity.

Because while technology can accelerate many things, it cannot replace the emotion, knowledge and authenticity that craftsmanship brings into a space.

And perhaps today, that matters more than ever.

Kitchen colour is never just about aesthetics.

It affects the whole atmosphere of the home.

A soft neutral kitchen can feel calm and timeless.
A green kitchen can feel grounded and connected to nature.
A darker kitchen can feel sophisticated and cocooning.
A warmer palette can feel sociable, welcoming and full of life.

This is why I never choose kitchen colours only by following trends.

We look at the architecture, the natural light, the materials, the surrounding rooms and the emotional role the kitchen has within the home.

But the most important factor is always the client: their personal relationship with colour, their preferences, and how they want to feel when they are in the space.

Some people want their kitchen to feel calm and understated.
Others want it to feel warm, energetic and full of character.
Some are drawn to colours that feel grounded and natural, while others prefer a lighter palette that feels open and serene.

Because the kitchen is rarely just a place to cook. It is where the day begins, where people gather, where conversations happen, and where the home often feels most alive.

The right colour should not only suit the room.
It should suit the people who live there.

Which colour would you choose for your kitchen?

Before & After

Swipe through to see the before and after from the living room at our Marylebone apartment.

Originally, this space was the children’s bedroom, while the living area was positioned at the back of the property. By relocating the living room to the front, we were able to create a space that felt more better connected to the character of the apartment.

We introduced new architectural details to the ceiling and walls, adding rhythm, proportion and a sense of quiet elegance. The room was designed to support both sides of family life: a refined setting for more formal social moments, but also a comfortable space for everyday time together.

The bespoke TV unit became an important focal point within the scheme. With metal detailing, marble accents and carefully considered storage, it brings a more elevated design language to a practical family need.

A space designed not only to look beautiful, but to be lived in — formally, informally, and every day.

The most meaningful interiors are not created by choosing beautiful things alone.

They begin with understanding people — how they live, how they rest, how they gather, and how they want to feel when they come home.

It is about listening carefully, observing the rituals they value, the memories they bring with them, and the quiet moments they want to create for the future.

For us, design begins with emotion:

A material is never just a material.
A colour is never just a colour.
A room is never just a room.

Every decision has an impact on how a space supports daily life — how it calms, restores, energises, welcomes or protects.

This is where wellness design, biophilic principles and colour psychology become so important. They allow us to create interiors that are not only elegant and considered, but deeply connected to the people who live within them.

Because a home should not simply look beautiful.

It should feel balanced.
It should feel personal.
It should feel like a place where you can truly exhale.

The beautiful custom kitchen at our Marylebone apartment.

For this space, the focus was on creating a kitchen that feels elegant, practical and softly integrated into our client ‘s lifestyle. . The breakfast banquette makes use of the bay window, turning an everyday dining area into a more intimate and comfortable place to sit, gather and enjoy the natural light.

Layered lighting, warm neutral tones, textured fabrics and dark accents bring depth to the scheme, while the marble-effect island adds a refined architectural presence at the centre of the room.
A balance of functionality, atmosphere and quiet luxury — designed for everyday living, but with a considered sense of occasion.

The son’s bedroom and ensuite at our Venice project were designed around a clear brief: to create a dark, moody and cocooning retreat.

In the bedroom, deep tones, dark finishes and layered lighting create a dramatic yet intimate atmosphere. The contrast of textures keeps the space refined rather than heavy, while the Venetian plaster walls bring depth, movement and a subtle sense of craftsmanship.

In the ensuite, the darker palette becomes even more immersive, creating a sense of quiet luxury and retreat. Rich finishes, tactile surfaces and carefully considered lighting work together to create a space that feels bold, atmospheric and deeply personal.

A private suite designed with atmosphere, texture and understated confidence.
