Ciarcelluti Mathers Architecture

Ciarcelluti Mathers Architecture Everyone deserves a home that works around them. A home that balances beauty and functionality. A home that looks after the earth without costing the earth.

A home that nurtures and nourishes: physically and mentally. We design healthier homes that put family first. Simply put, a home that makes for a better future. We have worked with hundreds of people across London to extend, alter or refurbish their property and create harder working, healthier homes. We think we can help you too.

We both studied architecture because we love solving design an

d spatial puzzles. But we also knew that design could improve lives, solving problems on a societal level as well as an individual one. We have now been working together for over 20 years and continue to instil this shared philosophy into our everyday practice right here in London. Forming Ciarcelluti Mathers in 2011 has allowed us to specialise further in sustainable home retrofit, helping individuals and families build their perfect future-proof home. Clients describe us as creative problem solvers who enjoy unearthing the real potential of their homes. We like to get to the heart of what matters to define exactly what modern families need. It is by working closely with you that we can create a home that truly fulfils its purpose.

They shape an atmosphere that feels both grounding and full of character.

Reusing and upgrading our existing buildings is not just a sustainable choice — it’s an act of respect. For the planet, for the craft, and for the people who live in these spaces.
At Studio CMA, we believe that thoughtful retrofits are where design meets responsibility.

Throwback to this project completed 10 years ago: the second home we had the pleasure of
designing for the same wonderful clients. Our journey with them began back in 2011, and now,
over a decade later, they are re-engaging us for more design work.
We deeply value long-lasting relationships and are so grateful to have met such fantastic people
along the way. It’s a privilege to be part of their story again.

We’re testing the layout for the bathroom walls using Mirage Nest tiles — a beautiful choice
with a natural texture and timeless feel.
Getting the layout just right is a crucial part of the process. It helps us ensure that every cut and
joint feels intentional before installation begins.

We love how the copper Vola flush plate adds a warm, refined touch to this bathroom. It pairs
beautifully with the oak cabinetry and the soft, calming tones of the tiles: a perfect balance of
materials, texture, and colour. Built to last.

This might not be a “pretty” picture, but it’s exactly what our projects are made of. At Studio_CMA, we work with respect for historic buildings, designing with longevity and
breathability in mind. These wood fibre insulation boards are natural, non-polluting, and help
buildings regulate moisture, essential for a healthy and enduring home.

We were looking back through some of our past projects and this little gem came up ✨

A compact, cost-efficient rear extension, beautifully clad in timber. This small intervention
delivered big impact, a proof that thoughtful, simple design moves can completely transform a
space.

As our lovely clients put it:

“The glass design of the garden room is a revelation. It gives us access to the morning sunlight we’ve never had before. The design of the glass catches the early light perfectly. We can sit in the morning and watch the sunrise, enjoying how the light changes across the gardens and
surrounding buildings, all from the comfort of our home. The amount of light we now have in the
house has changed our well-being. People talk of bringing the outside in, but I feel this extension
has given us the chance to appreciate our surroundings that much more.”

This large timber-framed window and door create a generous opening to the garden beyond, drawing light deep into the home and blurring the boundary between inside and out. The natural grain and warmth of the timber enhance the connection to the outdoors, bringing a sense of calm and softness to the interior. A simple, honest material — and a powerful way to invite nature in.

This comprehensive refurbishment of a grand six-bedroom Victorian townhouse in Little Venice focused on enhancing thermal performance while preserving its rich architectural character. We upgraded the building fabric to meet modern energy standards and reinstated original features to celebrate its heritage. Thoughtfully designed bespoke joinery was introduced, maximising space and bringing refined contemporary comfort to this elegant period home.

Inspired by the philosophy of Shigeru Ban, this approach embraces restraint, material honesty, and a deep respect for context and humanity. When we reduce architecture to its essentials, we uncover solutions that are elegant and ethical — light on the earth and rich in meaning.

Flooded with natural light through tall, secondary-glazed windows, the space feels serene.
The natural wood floors and VOC-free paint create a healthy, breathable environment, while generous windows offer peaceful views of mature street trees. It’s where classic architecture meets clean, modern living — airy, comfortable, and quietly beautiful. 🌿🪟
