100+ year old ceilings are always a challenge to work with especially when they have been affected by water damage.
You never know how much old paint will come off when you start scraping. Best not to panic! Just go through each process methodically and suddenly it’s done!

Decided to post a selection of old photos of some of my past ‘marbling’ jobs after seeing some nice examples in Italy on a recent trip.

This kitchen although in good condition, the home owner wanted a completely new look without replacing any of the wood style cupboards or the layout. With good preparation and a more contemporary paint colour choice the transformation was complete!!

This Victorian staircase in Leyton is over 130 years old ! and down to real craftsmanship of the time is still going strong.
The homeowner wanted a new look for the stairs which over the years had been stained and varnished until it had turned quite dark but with lots of sanding and prepping, plus using traditional paint colours the stairs have been transformed!!

This was a challenging little project, the customer asked me to match these bedside tables to their Lombok small cupboar...

This was a challenging little project, the customer asked me to match these bedside tables to their Lombok small cupboard for their guest room.
Successfully I was able to use ‘wood graining’ techniques that were taught to me as an apprentice many years ago to achieve the finish!

Room 2 completed!
As in the previous post - this room also had polystyrene tiles also attached to the ceiling which although not the original 80+ years old plaster, it still took a fair amount of prep work to flatten it out.
The rest of the room was more straightforward and finished in contrasting contemporary colours.

Room rescued!!
This living room in Finchley was in urgent need of updating. The house is 80+ years old and unfortunately during those years polystyrene tiles were installed on the ceiling which are nowadays considered a fire hazard.
They had to go! After removing carefully from the original ceiling I prepared and used lining paper to get it back to its former glory!
More modern colours were chosen to complete this update!
