Delighted to see these photos by of the garden at Cornerstone House in 2024. This is a really special project for us and was what brought the practice together 10 years ago. The garden was always key, and envisioned as a lush jungle with areas to hide away in - really pleased to see it’s grown so much and is looking so healthy.

Clay and Lime House

Extension and refurbishment of an Edwardian terraced house in Haringey. The ambition was to limit the amount of carbon heavy, non recyclable and plastic based materials wherever possible. As such, walls are constructed using monolithic extruded clay blocks with thermal properties meaning no additional insulation was required. Lime render is used externally and lime plaster internally - limiting the amount of cement and gypsum based used. We love the finish of the plaster and left it unpainted - elsewhere, clay based paint it used. Quarry tiles line the floor, and wood chip terrazzo made using waste timber is used for the kitchen worktop. Wood fibre board and sheep’s wool insulation. As much as possible of this extension will one day just ‘return to the earth’ and not become a waste product that needs processing or goes into landfill.

Beautiful morning for a site visit! We’re really excited to be working on a steel and timber bird hide adjacent to Walthamstow Wetlands overlooking the river.

The Paddock was unloved, overgrown and used as a fly tipping area for decades. It has now been cleaned up, and is a wildlife reserve. A wildflower mix was sown in the old fly tipping areas and it’s looking fantastic!

A couple of photos of a kitchen extension and refurbishment of a house in Haringey, completed a while back for a young family .co.uk A modest, angular side return extension transforms the previously cramped kitchen area into a light filled, dynamic usable space. A double height space at the rear allows for 4m+ high glazing with views out to the garden and woods beyond.
