Five restaurants worth knowing in Richmond upon Thames - from our team.

We work, live, and meet clients across this borough - and so do our collaborators. Tower House is a firm favourite, most recently with the team from AKS Structures. These are the tables we actually come back to: from a Bib Gourmand bistro on Kew Road to Richmond’s only Michelin-starred kitchen. The Bingham Riverhouse has hosted two Pace Architecture and networking events - it’s become a natural home for meeting clients and collaborators.

Pace Architecture works across Richmond upon Thames on extensions, listed buildings, and projects that need careful handling. If you’re considering a project in the borough, we’d be glad to talk.

Garden studios in Richmond - what they actually look like when architecture leads.

This bank holiday weekend, a lot of people are at home looking at their garden. If yours has space, it’s worth knowing what’s possible before the summer really gets going.

We’ve worked on a number of garden studios in Richmond and West London - separate structures designed from the ground up, not bought off a shelf. Gym, pool room, home office, living space. The brief varies. The approach doesn’t.

If you’re thinking about using your garden properly, get in touch over the bank holiday - we’re always happy to have an early conversation.

Primrose Hill, NW1 - a mid-19th century four-storey Victorian terrace in a conservation area. The brief: full internal remodel to bring the property into contemporary use without compromising its setting.

Working alongside , we handled the architecture and planning while Sandra translated the client’s brief into interior drawings and mood boards. The result is a considered, light-filled home - natural materials, restrained detailing, and spaces that feel proportionate to the building’s scale.

Approved by Camden Council.

It’s never just architecture.

We create homes people dream about - spaces shaped around the way you actually want to live, not just the space you have. From a coastal Art Deco terrace to an oak-framed barn, from a basement cinema to a kitchen that becomes the heart of a house - every project starts with understanding what home means to you.

That’s the work. That’s always been the work.

Most people sit on a project for longer than they should.

This carousel breaks down exactly what happens from the moment you get in touch - the initial meeting, the feasibility stage, and how we put together your quote. No drawings needed beforehand. No paperwork. Just a conversation.

The first message is the hardest part. After that, we take it from there.

Planning permission granted for a wellness-led extension in Englefield Green, Surrey.
The brief wasn’t just to add space - it was to remove friction. Sauna, cold plunge, and changing room are sequenced so the recovery routine runs without re-entering the house. A covered terrace with exposed rafter ceiling, outdoor kitchen, and wall-mounted screen blurs the line between inside and outside. The material palette - red brick pavers, dark-stained timber, oak columns - holds the whole rear composition together.
We worked closely with the council’s tree officer to develop a screw pile foundation strategy informed by a root radar survey, protecting a prominent tree on site without compromising the design.

Thank you to Cogley Structural Services and for their help in securing planning. We look forward to working with both of you and through the next stages.

A great planning submission starts long before the drawings are final.

For this Chessington project, we’ve just submitted planning to replace an existing bungalow with two contemporary 4-bedroom family homes, carefully designed around site constraints, local planning policy, neighbour amenity, daylight considerations, parking, and sustainability.

From site analysis and pre-application advice through to planning drawings, design development, and final submission, every decision was made to maximise the potential of the plot while respecting the surrounding street scene.

This is exactly the kind of opportunity many homeowners and developers overlook - generous suburban plots often hold far more potential than first appears.

We enjoyed working with our consulting team:

Heat pumps: GAIA Powered
Daylight and Sunlight: T16 Design
Flood Risk and SuDS strategy:
Solar design:
Ecology:
Transport: Transport and Traffic Consultancy

If you’re considering a new build, plot development, replacement dwelling, or planning application in London or Surrey, we’d be happy to review the site potential.

Most architects will work anywhere. We work where we know the ground.

That means understanding how Richmond’s conservation officers approach a rear extension. Knowing which precedents carry weight in RBKC. Recognising that Green Belt edges require a different conversation to a suburban London terrace.

Our practice is rooted in South West London, with active work across Surrey, Sussex, and Oxfordshire. Local knowledge isn’t a selling point - it’s what changes the quality of advice you get from the first meeting.

Planning permission achieved in Hither Green and we are now on site. Working with main contractor , the first floor reconfiguration at the property is nearly complete - a dated terraced house, taking shape as a generous five-bedroom family home. Ground floor extension to follow, bringing a new open plan kitchen, dining and living space opening directly onto the rear garden.

Check out our latest blog post for more information on our project.

Planning granted in Richmond.

Richmond homeowners face a consistent challenge with rear extensions - the borough’s mature gardens, strong rear lines, and character streets mean officers scrutinise how additions sit against the original architecture. This consent required close attention to materiality, massing, and the relationship between the new ground-floor extension and the existing first-floor terrace.

We are looking forward to working with and on the project as we progress.

If you’re considering extending a property in Richmond, we’d be glad to talk through what’s achievable.
