A few moments from on site.

We’ve been spending recent shoot days with the team, capturing more of what happens behind the scenes.

Alongside the planned content, there are always a few bloopers along the way. It’s been a lot of fun having the team involved, and we’re looking forward to sharing more of the process with you.

Plenty more behind the scenes to come.

The structure is taking shape.

We’re back at Eversleigh Road, where the roof has now been completely stripped and the loft conversion is moving into an important structural stage.

The steels are going in, the padstones are being formed, and the pockets have been created ready to receive the steelwork. Around the chimney, bricks will be removed so a padstone can be installed and the steel can sit correctly into position.

Because this is a Victorian cottage, space is limited, so every centimetre matters. By increasing the parapet wall, it becomes the outer skin of the loft conversion, helping make the new loft space as wide as possible.

The same approach has already been carried out on the opposite side, and this wall can also be used by the neighbour if they choose to build their own extension in future.

More updates coming soon.

This one’s taking shape now.

Back at Clive Road, and the change since the last visit is clear. The steels were just in before, but now the brickwork and external walls are up, so you can properly see the size and shape of the ground floor extension.

Next up is the roof construction stage. Once that starts going on, the space begins to feel much more complete, with the structure in place and the build starting to close in.

More updates coming soon.

If you already know you want to improve your home in the future, it can make sense to start thinking about it now rather than waiting.

Investing sooner means you can enjoy the space earlier, while also helping to increase the long-term value and appeal of your property. It is not just about the build itself, but what your home could become worth in the years ahead.

If you are considering an extension, renovation or home investment, get in touch to discuss your project further.

Back at Chestnut Road for the final day of snagging, with the worktops now in and the last touches being finished off.

When we first showed this room, the old kitchen had just come out and the demolition was fully under way. A month later, the project has been completed, carefully managed by Ranjeet.

If you’ve got a small project coming up and would like some help, get in contact with us today.

Don’t start works without this.

If you own a flat or leasehold property and want to make changes, like moving walls, changing the layout or carrying out structural work, you’ll usually need formal permission from the freeholder or managing agent first.

That permission is called a licence to alter.

Before anything moves forward, the architecture drawings need to be prepared, the right information put together, and the application submitted correctly so the approval process can be managed properly.

We’ve currently got three of these applications going through, and without this step, the project simply can’t move forward.

Worth checking early to avoid delays later on.

Every project comes with its own set of challenges.

This Twickenham refurbishment is a great example of how live site conditions can shape the way we work. Being in a conservation area means no skips on the road, so everything has to be carefully managed, from waste removal through the front garden to keeping street disruption to an absolute minimum. It doesn’t slow us down; it just means we plan smarter and stay disciplined on site.

At Standley Design & Build, problem-solving is part of the process. Whether it’s managing restricted access, reworking layouts, or finding practical solutions that keep programmes moving, the focus is always on delivering a smooth, controlled build with minimal disruption to the client and neighbours.

Contact us if you’re planning a project and want a team that can manage the unexpected properly.

Over on Clive Road today with a really nice single-storey rear extension and full internal reconfiguration, opening up the ground floor to create a much bigger kitchen and living space.

There’s a lot of detail going into this one, from the exposed timbers adding character inside to the yellow stock bricks keeping the external feel consistent. The existing extension is now down, the drainage is complete, DPC has started, and the progress on the app is matching what’s happening on site. Walls are due to go up by the end of next week, and we’re on track to finish within the next 10 weeks.

Looking forward to seeing this one take shape. Follow along for the next update.

Starting the day properly over at Piper Road, Kingston, with a local coffee and a quick scout around before getting stuck into a brand new site.

This project is a side extension alongside a full ground floor refurbishment, with a full interior design package included too. We’re currently into the groundworks and foundations for the new structure, bringing together the brighter, more open and practical home the client wanted from the start.

Plenty more to show as the vision starts coming together, so watch this space.

Trust matters on every build.

When homeowners are handing over their homes, communication becomes a big part of the job.

Especially when clients are living on site, families are working towards important deadlines, or there are extra details to manage with building control or conservation rules.

It is not just about getting the work done. It is about making sure everyone understands what stage we are at, what is happening now, and what comes next.

That makes the whole process feel a lot calmer.

More updates coming soon.
