An age old problem has been solved

Every so often there is a seismic shift in the glazing industry. This year AGC Glass Europe and Panasonic have developed a Vacuum Insulated Glass (VIG) unit which will transform the glazing market. Combining their expertise they have brought to market a double-glazed unit which is no thicker than single glazing (6.7mm) yet offers thermal efficiencies better than 36mm triple-glazing. FINEO is the first commercially available Vacuum Insulated Glass unit to be manufactured in Europe. It is manufactured in a state of the art production facility based in Belgium.

Initially the product is aimed at period homes and buildings where the use of traditional glazing is not suitable and where the removal of existing frames is not permitted or is restricted. Given its slimness it can be easily retrofitted into all existing timber sash and casement windows. It comes with a market-leading guarantee of 15 years and has excellent acoustic and light transmission properties. FINEO does not have any inert gases such as argon, krypton or even xenon, nor does it have any organic seals so it will not deteriorate over years like some of the slim double-glazing on the market today. It is also 100% recyclable and has extremely low embodied energy when compared to existing products.

How does Fineo compare to other modern and traditional glazing?

For a start it's 8 times more efficient than single glazing and amazingly it's 12.5% more efficient than triple glazing.
