Defined by Federico Zeri as “one of the supreme names in Italian still-life painting”, the Master of the Acquavella Still Life is one of the most fascinating figures of seventeenth-century Rome. Active between 1615 and 1640, he has still not been identified with a specific artist. For this edition of Maastricht we delighted to present two large still-life paintings which brilliantly show the immediacy and powerful description of nature and human figures characterising this master’s style.
Master of the Acquavella Still Life, Still Life with Fruit in a Wicker Basket and a Boy; Still Life with Apples, Pears, and Peaches on a Plinth with Classical Motifs, oil on canvas, 95 x 128 cm each
