The design of the East Wing Percy Gee extension greatly improves access, connectivity and permeability through the existing building and wider site.
The extension creates a significant façade on the main campus square of an appropriate scale which connects users through to the existing facilities towards University Road.
Design and access principles have been followed that ensure the proposed building is accessible and inclusive for all users. The main façade of the extension presents a lively frontage to the campus square with the transparent ground floor allowing users to see into the building.

Transparency is key to the character of Percy Gee East Wing; it demonstrates that it is an active and welcoming place for students. The mainly glazed façade is important to create a visual relationship between the building and the Fielding Johnson Square. Unlike the other buildings around the site, the new building has an active façade with social spaces on the ground floor and overlooking the square. In addition, architectural features such as the retained existing walls and new staircases can be viewed from the exterior of the building, demonstrating the organisation of the spaces within.

We are proud to have been part of this project working with Oxford NHS Trust and Oxford University, the Warneford project brings together academic research power with clinical excellence. The site will be a global leader in brain research. Our work involved understanding the joint client’s needs, future vision and involved an iterative process of workshops and discussions to maximise the sites potential to deliver this challenging brief. It re-purposes existing listed buildings, provides new research and health care facilities combined in a mixed use scheme including key worker housing. #

Shacklewell Year 6 extension- Hackney, London.

The Year 6 extension completed in 2018 started with the demolition of a temporary block built in 1949 used as teaching spaces; it was built as a store so the teaching spaces were poor quality.
The new block connects to the main school building, and was positioned to maintain good day light levels to the main building and to the extension. The materials were carefully considered to blend well with the existing building and surroundings.
The new block has been designed to ensure the teaching spaces suit the needs of the pupils, with one classroom on each side and a shared group room to the centre of the extension. All spaces were designed with a bay window with a bench for students to utilize.
