A card is an expression of someone’s love, friendship and connection to other human beings. I believe in creating a beautiful hand made card that will hopefully make someone feel warm, happy and cherished. All the designs are hand painted with gouache, and finished with crayon. They are then scanned and digitally printed on high quality cream paper, made from responsible forestry. The design studio is in the heart of London and print production is in the green rolling hills of West Country.

Three years ago I lost my incredible husband Richie. He was a gorgeous, brilliant man, the light of my life, and I miss him beyond measure.

Together with friends, family and his colleagues I’ll be doing a fundraiser walk on 15th September in Kensington, to honour and celebrate Richie. All the money we raise will be generously match-funded by Allwyn, the National Lottery operator.

Richie was a people person, and had a wonderful way of making everyone feel valued and welcome. His warm and genuine interest in others made him a much loved family member, friend, mentor and colleague. He had a way of connecting with people that felt real and uplifting, with a smile and personality that could light up a room.

A passionate techie and future thinker, Richie believed that the UK could be a global tech leader if more children were exposed to the possibilities of tech at a young age. Our fundraiser is to raise money for Tech She Can, a charity with a mission to help grow tech literacy in children, particularly girls, so they can see what a career in technology could look like.

I am so happy for this opportunity to celebrate Richie in this way. If you’d like to find out more about the fundraiser, please follow the link to donate if you can. Thanks so much for your support, it means a lot.

One of my first watercolours, painted about 6 years ago, sitting under a tree in a woolly hat. It reminds me of the early years with my husband, our first home together and walks in this park. ☺️🌸

✨ La plage de Saint Tropez ✨
⠀
I'm so excited to share a this collaboration with you! This wedding editorial was inspired by the super stylish and iconic town in the South of France. ⠀
⠀
It all began with dreams of the sea, a snapshot of the shoreline, conversations on the phone, the feeling for a look that was soft, minimal, natural. Something that felt like the ephemeral nature of the sea. ⠀
⠀
A few weeks later this stationery was shipped tout de suite to St Tropez where a team of creatives prepared for one incredible day. To be continued... 💫✨⠀

Join me tomorrow afternoon from 4:30pm - 5:30pm for some painting fun with my lovely friends at Bears!

Studies have shown that painting can significantly reduce the stress in your body. Many people comment on how relaxed they feel after a class.

In this mini workshop we'll be using really simple techniques, that anyone aged 3 to 103 can enjoy. Mama Bear and her young daughter Mia will be joining me. We're using watercolour but feel free to use any paints you have available.

Hope you can join us! Full details below.. 🎨 🐻 🐻 🍦 🍦 🌈

On my desk today … is a tutorial for you! How to paint lupins and cosmos 🎨 🌸 I’m using watercolour, but you can use any paints you have available at home already.
Don’t forget you can pause the video at any time to follow the steps in your own time. Top tip - watch the video on your ipad for a big screen experience. Hope you enjoy the tutorial and please do tag me if you post a painting online, would love to see!

It's also the 4th anniversary of my first ever workshop, which was at Bears Ice Cream Company. I was so nervous! But really excited too. I'll be back with the lovely Bears for a special Instagram Live session on 13th March, to celebrate Mother's Day. So if you fancy a creative session with your mum, join in together from your own little bubbles, 4:30pm till 5:30pm. Ice cream bubble paintings.. sounds cute 😍 🍦 🎨

Today I’m joining the fab challenge set by Joanne Hawker so there’ll be a few more posts this month! Day 1 is Brand Introduction. Roxwell Press is a design studio making highly personal illustrations for you. Wedding stationery, art commissions and videos on how to paint. All with the aim to capture your unique story in joyful watercolours.

And I’m Michelle, the artist, designer and wearer of many hats behind the brand! Here are 5 things you may not know about me..

1. I’m an award winning waitress. In the 90’s I was part of a small restaurant team who won ‘Best Service in London’ from Time Out London. I’ve always loved giving customers a great service!
2. Without any previous sailing experience, I crossed the Atlantic in a yacht. When an opportunity comes, sometimes you have to jump onboard and learn the ropes along the way! It was incredible, and met a lovely new friend Lizzie MacArthur fellow crew lady.
3. I got married twice in one week. My husband is half French, and we wanted a long weekend party in the Dordogne but the law didn’t permit marriage to non residents. We legally married in a tiny ceremony in London, before going to France and having a big event a week later. It feels really special to have 2 wedding anniversaries!
4. The first letter I ever wrote and sent was to my mum. It said ‘I love you mum’. I was 7. I wanted to try out the postbox, to see how it worked.
5. I love animals. Some favourites are cats, squirrels, giraffes.

How about you, is there something people may not know about you?

There was a beautiful glow in the sunset yesterday. It’s warm inside, and the pink sky with wispy blue clouds made me think of faraway places. Maybe it’s the week that’s been, and the news that we’ll all be together again soon... ✨

Today I want to thank the lovely Sandra and Sara Bianco Rosa Weddings. Last summer they shared a dream wedding with me in Southern Italy, full of colour, elegance and sunshine chic. From my city studio I travelled to the Sorrento region, collecting photos for our mood board. There were olive trees, artisanal ceramics, and cocktails on the terrace looking out over a gorgeous azure sea. A ceremony by the pool and palms Villa Eliana and laid back lunch by the beach at Conca del Sogno

Thank you for taking me with you Sandra and Sara. I love the stationery we made together 💖

Our Story

Roxwell Press specialises in personalised paper goods, with illustrated paintings and stationery by Michelle Evans. Following a career as a scenic painter, and later as a graphic designer, Michelle set up the company. She brings together the free spirit of an artist, and the meticulous eye of a designer, to create keepsakes that will be cherished for years to come.

Inspired by a love of colour and nature, Michelle has created collections that bring a fresh approach to time honoured themes. Building portraits are whimsical and bright, wedding florals are elegant yet expressive. Each project is approached with love and care. The special character of a much loved building is illustrated in detail, and all our stationery is printed by an expert print studio in the Somerset hills, using the finest quality papers.

Alongside offering unique and artful products, Michelle also teaches watercolour painting in collaboration with Airbnb, Heal's and Tea & Crafting. She believes that everyone has creativity inside of them. In one of her workshops you can bring out your inner artist, and learn some fun, easy techniques, in a relaxed setting.
