We’re excited to share that 1 Marylebone High Street has received planning approval.

It was fantastic to return to where it all began.

During our nomadic journey to settling in Kennington, we were part of the first cohort of practices in RIBA’s incubator space—tucked away in the mews house behind 76 Portland Place.

Last night’s WPA AGM Evening Reception was held in that very building—now Hale House—beautifully reimagined by our long-term client, The Howard de Walden Estate, as a cutting-edge workspace for London’s growing health-tech sector. Their partner, Spacemade, now operates the space.

We’re proud to still be working with such an enlightened client and to be actively working with HdWE and Spacemade designing new facilities across Marylebone. Watch this space for news on those developments...

Our BIM model for a Listed townhouse that we recently completed for an art collector whose home in Westminster we carefully restored and extended.

The digital model was great for explaining the development to the client and contractor and for coordinating construction in such a tight space.

On Friday 6th October Jonathan will be volunteering for the sixth year to help Streets of London, a charity that helps homeless people in London, with their sponsored sleep out.

Rough sleeping has risen by more than 20% in London in the last year, so help for homeless people is needed more than ever right now. The cost-of-living crisis is pushing more and more people into homelessness, with rising prices forcing people who have never slept rough before onto the streets for the first time.

Streets of London is a charity that funds specialist support for people who are homeless in London, and raises awareness about homelessness. The charity was founded in 2013 by Ian Fothringham. It organises fundraising events such as concerts, sleep-outs, and night walks, and supports projects that offer life-changing support to homeless people, such as housing advice, hospital discharge support, mental health support, and employment support. The charity aims to shift perceptions and challenge some of the stereotypes about who homeless people are, and to increase general understanding about the issue and what can be done to tackle it.

What is BIM and why do we use it for refurbishment projects?

BIM revolutionises construction with 3D data models, optimising efficiency, reducing costs, and enhancing collaboration. Learn why the UK leads in BIM adoption and how it transforms existing buildings.

At Holt Architecture we've long been fervent advocates of the use of Building Information Modelling (BIM) and were among some of the earliest SME adopters in the UK. Whilst BIM is often considered more suitable for large-scale and new-build projects we made an early decision to use BIM on all our pr...
