The weather has been amazing this week, and the Spring flowers in my clients’ gardens has reaffirmed I made the right decision to become a full-time gardener a year ago.

Lovely sunny day in a client’s garden today, lots of snowdrops and crocuses.

Also supplied a lot of the veggies for, and helped design and arrange the NVS Midlands Branch national championship winning entry in the inter-branch trug class. Teamwork dreamwork!

Not posted for a few weeks, the Summer has been so busy I’ve hardly had a moment to spare whilst caring for all my lovely clients’ gardens. However, my passion and hobby for over 30 years has been growing vegetables to show and i’m over the moon that today I won the national title for long carrots at The National Vegetable Society’s national championships held in Sussex. 2nd in parsnips (have won this twice in the past) and 3rd in the collection class and tomatoes too, as well as a few other placings. I can truthfully call my business Champion Garden Maintenance once again. Tired but happy.

Moment of the week, turning up to my weekly Friday morning job to see the homeowners had set two chairs in front of their overgrown border. So they could admire the stunning border opposite which was in a similar state until a few weeks ago. Makes the effort worthwhile and i’ll be getting to the rest of the garden in due course. And plant of the week, these campanulas in the same garden.

Very pleased to have the planting completed today at a local housing association communal gardens. A far cry from the overgrown and weed-infested plot I started on back in April, which has taken several back-breaking visits to kill off the weeds and dig out old shrub and tree roots. First three photos are the ‘before’! With special thanks to my pal ‘Robodigger Al’ for his help.

Disturbed these wee chappies on a job today. Carefully backed off and let Mr. and Mrs. Blackbird tend their brood.

Got to go a client’s ride-on mower in the sunshine this afternoon!

Been working at this large overgrown garden the last few Friday mornings, for lovely clients who were a bit overwhelmed at the task before them. A few ‘head down’ sessions later and a beautiful garden is starting to appear. And the appreciative clients themselves now feel confident to do bits in between my visits, which is what it’s all about for me.
