☕ MONDAY. WE MEET AGAIN.

The weekend is over.

The alarm went off far too early.

And apparently we're all expected to be productive again.

Rude!

Fortunately, Made at No.16 contains several recognised treatments for a Monday:

📜 THE UNWRITTEN RULES OF LEAGUE HQ 📜

We've realised that over time, Made at No.16 has developed a fairly comprehensive set of rules.

Nobody wrote them.

Nobody agreed to them.

But apparently we're all expected to know them. 😂

So, particularly for the benefit of our newest recruit Sam, we thought perhaps it was time they were officially documented.

RULE 1: You are absolutely allowed to walk in and say “I'm only looking.”
We hear you. We believe you.
We'll see how that goes. 👀😂

RULE 2: Stacey does NOT need another basket. 🧺
This has been independently verified by everyone except Stacey.

RULE 3: Garry's hares are HARES.
Not donkeys.
Please refer to the recent photographic evidence. 😂

RULE 4: Do not mention birds to Nicky. 🐦
Actually, following recent developments, don't mention anything with more than four legs either.
And under absolutely NO circumstances ask her to fetch something from the cellar before May 2027.

RULE 5: If someone casually asks when your birthday is...
DO NOT ANSWER.
You're about to be assigned a pirate name. 🏴‍☠️

RULE 6: Fig Rolls are currently classified as cake. 🍰
This ruling remains controversial and further appeals may be lodged.

RULE 7: Any sheep, pheasants, dachshunds wearing Bobe dungarees, chinchillas living in peg bags or other suspicious wildlife appearing on our social media may not be an entirely accurate representation of events at Made at No.16.

MAY not.

RULE 8: If Stacey says “I've had an idea...”
Brace yourself.

RULE 9: New makers may initially believe they've simply joined a lovely little handmade shop in Ludlow.

Please don't ruin the surprise. 😂

And finally...

RULE 10:

If you pick something up, stroke it slightly and say “Ooooooh...” we're afraid it's probably already too late. 😂❤️

After approximately 7½ months of summer holidays...

We haven't checked the maths. It just felt that long. 😂

THE KIDS ARE FINALLY BACK AT SCHOOL.

So we'd just like to take a moment to congratulate every parent, carer, grandparent, and frankly anyone else who has been caught in the crossfire, on surviving the first few days back.

You survived:

⏰ Trying to wake a child who, only last week, was somehow capable of being fully conscious at 6.14am.

🧦 The sudden disappearance of all school socks.

🎒 The thing they absolutely definitely told you they needed for school tomorrow.

🥱 The outrage at having to go to bed at a reasonable hour.

😩 And the morning negotiations with someone who now apparently considers getting dressed before 10am a violation of their human rights.

But look at you.

It's Friday night.

Everyone is still alive.

You've made it through the first few days.

WE ARE PROUD OF YOU. 😂👏

Now go and enjoy your Friday night in whatever way you see fit.

You have earned it. ❤️

Although probably don't stay up too late. You've got to get them up again on Monday. 😂🫣

A familiar face has returned to League HQ - Patience May is back with us as a guest maker for September AND October! 🎉

If you've visited us before, you may remember her gorgeous handmade bags and zip pouches, and we're very happy to have them (and Patience!) back in the shop.

Of course, returning makers don't require quite the same induction as new recruits.

She already knows about Stacey's baskets.
She's witnessed the general chaos.
And presumably she's had enough time away to decide she's willing to risk it again. 😂

You'll find Patience May back at Made throughout September and October, so do have a rummage through her lovely new selection next time you're in. ❤️

That lasted well. 😂

Because it's the first week of September and we have a brand new guest recruit joining League HQ and a previous guest returning to join us again!

First off please give a very warm welcome to our newest Guest Maker

✨ SkincareBootique ✨

Following an extensive recruitment process (saw their products, loved them and immediately started finding somewhere to put them!, this is essentially our recruitment process! 😂) And we're rather pleased with ourselves.

And we'd better introduce the woman we've just welcomed into the madhouse! 👋 Sam and her family run SkincareBOOtique from their farm in Mid Wales, creating award-winning natural, handmade skincare that's quite literally “straight from the farm, not the factory.” With everything from handmade hand balms to body butters, haircare and bath products, there's a huge emphasis on natural ingredients, sustainability and keeping unnecessary synthetics and plastics out of their products and packaging. 🌿

❤️ So yes, Sam appears to be a perfectly sensible, environmentally conscious businesswoman producing beautiful award-winning skincare. We give it about a fortnight before we've dragged her into a Fig Roll debate and assigned her a pirate name. 😂

We think they're going to fit in rather nicely. Of course, nobody has yet explained to our new recruit that joining Made at No.16 also means:

🏴‍☠️ You may be assigned a pirate name without warning.
🍪 You WILL eventually be asked for your official position on Fig Rolls.
🧺 You must never question Stacey's basket requirements.
🐦 Any apparent pheasant infestation should be ignored.
🐑 The same applies to sheep.

Basically, they thought they were just coming here to sell skincare.
Bless them. 😂

🚨 LEAGUE HQ INCIDENT REPORT 🚨

You may remember that we've previously established Nicky isn't a fan of birds. Well, apparently we need to clarify something, birds are positively delightful if compared with spiders. 🕷️😳

Unfortunately, Made at No.16 is a lovely old building.
Lots of character.
Wonky bits.
Cosy corners.
Beautiful old features.

And, at this time of year...approximately 74,500 bloody spiders.

Which brings us to a recent incident.

Nicky was happily minding her own business behind the counter when a spider appeared...

BY. THE. DOOR.

There was now a spider between Nicky and freedom.

After careful consideration, her options were:

A) Move permanently into Made at No.16.
B) Burn the building down.*
C) Remain completely trapped until another human arrived to deal with the situation.

She chose C. Although B was given considerably more thought than we're comfortable admitting. 🔥😂

Thankfully, rescue eventually arrived and Nicky was released back into the wild.

However, this does mean we need to issue an important seasonal update:🕷️ THE CELLAR IS NOW OFFICIALLY OUT OF BOUNDS TO NICKY.
Estimated reopening date: May 2027.
For now she is agreeing to still enter the shop! 🤣

Stacey will therefore have to manage the underground basket reserves alone until further notice. 🧺😂

If you visit Made over the next few months and find Nicky standing perfectly still, pointing silently at something...Please don't ask questions.
Just deal with it. 😳🕷️😂

Apparently something rather special is making a return for Christmas, but that's all we're allowed to say for now. 🤐😂

She's also warned us there will only be a limited number made this year.

Any guesses what she's been plotting? 👀

She's battling through the traffic and will get those doors open as soon as she can!
