A PERFECT EXAMPLE BELOW AND UNFORTUNATELY ALL TOO COMMON 😠

Earlier tonight I had a call from an elderly lady in Cleveleys who was having problems closing & locking her door and she was terrified.

She used an old Thompson directory and called a national company (Keytek) who said they'd attend but quoted £121 plus vat per hour plus parts which are always at inflated prices.

An hour later they rang back to say they had nobody that could attend and cancelled.

The lady then rang another company, again a national, who quoted over £400 and took her credit card details over the phone before setting off. Again after 30 minutes they too rang back to say they had nobody available.

So onto the 3rd company in the directory who quoted £195 plus vat per hour because it was Saturday night. This time the lady declined the quote and used google and found my number.

I was able to attend, fix the problem, service her door and make sure that she could easily lock the door.

Despite it being Saturday night, the total cost was £95, no added extras and the lady was over the moon. She did say that if I hadn't come out, she was going to sleep in the chair all night to guard the unlocked door😞

The point I'd like to make is the old yellow pages and Thompson's directory are full of national companies all with multiple adverts under different names and pretending to be local businesses.

Unfortunately a lot of elderly people still rely on these old directories and it begs the question, how many do pay these inflated charges🤔

Most of us know that it costs a significant amount of money to compliantly run a business, especially a mobile one. I will always try to be as cost effective as possible without compromising on compliance and my legal responsibilities.

So why not save my number in your phone in readiness for a time that you may need an emergency locksmith🤷‍♂️

DON'T GET CONNED THIS CHRISTMAS.

Many tradesman including Locksmiths will be taking some time off over the next week or so, this will mean some of the national companies will be high on your Google searches.

Please be aware that the cost per hour with these companies will be very much higher than normal and we know that they are high enough already.

Last year one of my clients had been quoted £200 per hour plus parts at inflated prices, luckily I was available to attend and the issue was sorted at the correct price guided by the Master Locksmiths Association recommendations.

Lockfit-Lytham St Anne's will be available where possible over the holiday period and I will not increase my prices, add a call out charge or add any other kind of surcharges.

I believe that out of hours working, weekends and holiday periods are part and parcel of being an emergency service and therefore standard charging applies at all times.
