Had to admit defeat on getting this off the wall to make a really straight forward valve change. All the controls had been attached using locktite, it just wasn’t budging. Any advice on removing the controls (the retaining screws broke free eventually but that’s as far as it went) would be greatly appreciated.

New fill and flush valves installed in just over an hour. Tea and biscuits from my lovely customer.
