Wow, 🥰 we did it! Targets reached and surpassed, just wow!! No words can come close to how much thanks are due and the overwhelming support and worldwide love for the common denominator that is trees since the tree nursery has been created but even more so throughout our crowdfunder campaign!! 💚

The recent tree planting day before the Easter holidays, for me is my most favourite day in 2026 so far! It was soooo much fun, we all learnt loads from each other and with this it reminded me that, this is what it is all about... the future. The future generations of trees and people. The simplicity of planting a tree. How simple life can be, if we let it just be.... How much joy can come from nature, people, land and community. The real thanks has to go to Eigg for being Eigg! 🥚 🌎

I feel Edward Monkton says it better than I ever could... 🤣 To my surprise this morning after thinking by 11am this morning the Crowdfunder campaign would be finished (and once I discovered I am not stuck in a groundhog day situation🤪) the upshot is and total bonus is we have more time to reach our target, whoop whoop!!
Turns out the crowdfunder countdown is slightly misleading as we actually have another 21hrs to go... the message still remains clear, please continue sharing and help us over the finish line in style and I am 99% sure the countdown hours to go on the crowdfunder is correct🤣😂🤣 This morning's confusions has confirmed that Eigg's time zone is different from everywhere else in the world 🌎 🕑

Eigg Primary School have been long term supporters of Eigg Tree Nursery. The dedication and recognition on how important it is to plant for their future woodlands has been immense. The schoolkids carried out a sponsored tree planting day and the money raised was split between the tree nursery and securing funds to receive traditional music lessons provided by Fèis Eige throughout the year.

"We are so lucky to have the tree nursery as our neighbour at Eigg Primary School and we are proud to have raised money to support their work. We look forward to seeing the trees we have planted grow!"

The overwhelming support throughout our Crowdfunder has well and truly established the, Putting Down Roots for the Eigg Tree Nursery.

Outstandingly, over the following weeks we smashed the raised target and went on to, Grow the Trunk.

Continuing with the Introductories of vital tree nursery staff members;
Wes is our longest standing, always digging volunteer! He is my father and anyone else that has had the pleasure of his company will know he is a phenomena, the purest form the human species can be or a freak of nature depending on whichever way you look at him or what day it might be!
Wes is Irish and has had a verdant migratory path until he settled on Eigg 50yrs ago. He is incredibly elusive but when he hasn't 'took to the ground' as some may say... when he does show up; he is consistent, reliable and remarkable! A human digger with stamina of an ox! A Master, Guru or chaos conjurer depending on the day, week or hour. A true golden Eigg...
He has instilled in me the very basic but, incredibly powerful morals and ethics throughout my life. To believe in magic, tune in to your surroundings, sit back and observe nature as this is when magic truly happens in front of your eyes! Trust your gut instinct and don't wander too far from our primal indigenous ways. Embrace old and new. Be a 'bit' of a rebel, be honest and spread peace, love with a sprinkle of spice always 💚 If I am really forced to choose just one word to describe Wes it would be wizardry!
