Hi everyone, hope you all had a great bank holiday weekend! ☀️

We were out recently tackling a couple of jobs in one go here. We safely removed a storm-damaged conifer that was becoming a bit of a hazard, and also did some extensive deadwooding on a large Willow tree to tidy it up and make it safe. 🪓🌳

It’s amazing how much more light has been let through, and the garden is looking much better for it!

Safe removal of a big Pine tree! 🪓🌳

This one was really starting to decline and becoming a bit of a worry for the homeowner, so we got it down safely to clear the space. We also ground out the stump so they’ve got their lawn back and don't have to worry about mowing around it anymore! 🚜🌱

Everything was left tidy and ready for the garden to be used again.

Here is a job we did a while ago that I forgot to share! 🌳✨

We recently tackled two large Silver Birches that had simply outgrown their welcome. Being significantly too close to the house and the neighbour's property, they had become a real concern for the homeowner.

The Challenge: With a shed, a log store, and a brick wall surrounding the base, there was zero "drop zone." This meant rigging almost every limb and section of trunk to ensure everything landed safely in a tiny footprint.

Woodland Restoration & Selective Thinning 🌳☀️
This woodland was suffering from a closed canopy, which suppresses natural regeneration and impacts the overall health of the stand.

Recently, we've been carrying out selective thinning to improve the structural diversity of this local woodland. By removing the "suppressed" and poor-quality specimens — the majority of which were under 10cm diameter (DBH) — We are promoting the growth of the "final crop" trees and allowing light to reach the forest floor.

Reclaiming the garden! 🪓🌳

This Cherry tree had simply outgrown its space. It was starting to dominate the garden and lean toward the fence, causing the fence to rot and become unstable, so it was time for it to go.

We dismantled the tree safely and finished the job by grinding out the stump. Now, instead of a large trunk and surface roots taking up the garden, the owners have a clear, level space ready for spring.

A bit of a different approach 🌳🦉
This dead Oak was becoming a major concern due to its size and proximity to the road. Instead of a full fell, we carried out a partial pollard to create a safe, standing monolith.

Why leave the trunk?
✅ Eliminates Risk: All heavy, decaying limbs overhanging the road have been removed.

✅ Wildlife Haven: Standing deadwood is one of the most important habitats for owls, woodpeckers, and rare beetles.

✅ Landscape Feature: It keeps a grand, vertical element in the hedgerow rather than leaving an empty gap.

A great result that balances public safety with environmental conservation.

Woodland Restoration: Reclaiming the View 🌳🚜

Every piece of land has potential, but sometimes it just gets lost under years of overgrowth. We recently took on this project to clear a site that had become a collection point for old farm debris and thick scrub, completely hiding the beautiful landscape behind it.

The Treecision team stepped in to transform the space:

✅ Opening the Horizon: We cleared the dense overgrowth to reveal the incredible views that were hidden for years.

✅ Ground Improvement: All arisings were chipped directly onto the wetter, boggy areas to help stabilize the floor and nourish the remaining trees.

✅ Managing the Transition: The "Before and After" shows the massive difference in light and accessibility we've achieved in Phase 1.

The plan forward: Once the ground has had a chance to dry out, we’ll be returning to extract the timber and cut the remaining stumps down to ground level for a completely clean finish.

Saving the Pond: Willow Weight Reduction 🌿💧

Willows are beautiful, but they are notorious for getting "heavy-headed." Recently, we were called out to manage these willows that had become so weighted they actually failed, with limbs resting in the pond.

Our team stepped in to:

✅ Remove failed limbs that were cluttering the water.

✅ Weight reduction: Carefully thinning and lifting the canopy.

✅ Restore the view: Clearing out the space to let light back into the pond area.

By lifting the canopy, we’ve reduced the leverage on the main trunks, helping to prevent future failures while making the water feature a focal point again.
