When it comes to choosing the right flooring there are many factors that should be considered before handing over your hard earned cash; -
Traffic Flow - A space that’s going to have a lot of daily foot traffic will benefit more from flooring that’s designed to be fairly resistant to wear and tear.
Durability - Flooring needs to be resistant to different factors depending on what room it is laid in, such as, moisture in Kitchen and Bathrooms; sun bleaching from direct sunlight in conservatories etc.
Suitability - Is the flooring you're considering suitable for the location or type of room it is going in?
Slip resistance - The use of the room, such as, a bathroom, kitchen or pool room, will determine whether you need any additional slip resistance.
Colour - Before choosing a colour for your floor, consider what your dominate colours will be with the rest of your décor.
Noise - Consider the acoustics when choosing the flooring. Will the flooring create excessive noise due to high foot traffic? Do you need an acoustic floor?
Pets - Do you have dogs or cats? Pet claws can scratch hardwood floors, and "indoor potty accidents" can be difficult to treat on carpet.
Cleaning - Do you want a surface that is easy to clean or easy to keep clean?
Allergies - Some carpets hold allergens, so do you go for a hard finish instead?
Budget - Floors can vary wildly in price. Try and keep within your budget. However, it is sometimes better to pay that little bit extra to ensure the product meets its requirements.
