MSA Awards Runner Up: Small Project Award 🎉

When considering entries to this category, we wanted to showcase one of our favourite space transformations.

At the beginning of the project, the key problems were no connection to the mature garden, layout of rooms not working well and spaces feeling small and cluttered.

MSA Awards Runner Up: Multiple Residential (Built) Award 🎉

Reminiscing on last weeks events when we had the honour of not one, but two of our projects being runner up in their categories.

This project is one that we are very proud of as it screams character and thoughtful design - innovative flooring, jazzy bathrooms, colourful kitchens with quality fittings, exposed brick, spacious layouts, high ceilings and glazing features - not often found in standard new build houses.

Shrewsbury Street:

This was a concept for an infill pocket house in a dense suburb of Manchester.

Wanting to utilise the leftover land from an existing victorian semi-detached to create a family sized home using eco friendly and sustainable materials and methods.

We proposed a cork block facade to both insulate and regulate internal temperatures, utilised south aspects to allow for thermal gain and incorporated several eco features such as car charging, integrated photovoltaics and rainwater harvesting.

South-west facing gardens ensure sunshine from early afternoon until the evening.

And what a view the sunshine provides.

Across the oak stair over the seamless herringbone timber floors to the sun-drenched kitchen dining space at the rear.

Ensuring natural light within a space ensures a connection to the outdoors. Exposed brickwork creates texture and adds warmth as the light ripples down the surface.
