To go with the shed I put up the week before in Manningtree, last week was time to upgrade the rotten decking for this summerhouse.
The railings were crumbling just by looking at them, the decking was split and falling through and the frame was literally on its last legs!! 😱
It turned out there were just 2x 1ft² sunken concrete pads holding up ALL of the decking and the sleepers used as steps crumbled as i moved them!

New footings and frame were put in, extending the decking by an extra foot, new steps were added but once finished, was decided not to add a railing as the customer didnt want to loose the open nature and feel closed in from her beautyfull garden 👌

Part 2....

After checking it over, the customer agreed it best to strip the walls completely and redo it all. It was also evident that damp was getting in through the outside wall's render, so that needed attention too.
Quick meeting with Aaron from Direct Plastering Solutions and a plan was agreed.

Both inner walls and exterior render were stripped back to the brickwork and left a few weeks to help dry out. I added a new fused switch and double socket, then Aaron got to work plastering and rendering.
2weeks later (this wed/thurs) I was back to check, seal and decorate.

Now thats a very satisfying turn around for a very relieved and gratefull customer 👌

With the ground as hard as concrete without any rain lately, this wasnt as easy as you'd think!!

Customer in Brantham had some reclaimed slabs from a neighbour and wanted their patio enlarged on a bed of sand.
The only problem is reclaimed slabs have a tendancy to be brittle and break alot easier, the main reason i dont normally use them!
Luckily Collier & Catchpole do a very similar slab and another 8 were purchased to fill the gap.
I also had to lift the slabs on the path an extra 3inches to match the level.
And thats another happy customer 🍻

After having their kitchen opened up into the living room by local builders, I was contacted to decorate these now massive open plan rooms in Brantham.

Sanded and sealed the new plaster.
Dulux brilliant matt white on the ceiling,
Dulux Egyptian Cotton matt on the walls,
Dulux white satinwood on the new skirts.
Beautifull 👌

Back in Mistley and my lovely customers to remove the old w**d riddled, uneven lawn and returf it with premium turf from a nearby turf farm, not the cheapo stuff from b&q thats half dead!!
Winter isnt the best time to be laying new turf so they waited for spring to arrive.
1 bulk bag of grade A soil was added, compacted and levelled, turf and stepping stones added, and finished was a good sprinkle of water.
Finally, replaced their old rotten shed with a new 5x7ft shed.

Larch pergola with douglas fir slats and light strips
Douglas fir slatted fence with metal archway
Composite decking
Brick walled planter area
Returfed
New 7x5ft shed

That marks the end of this project, all ready for the good weather and 2 VERY happy customers 👌🍻

Last week saw 2days worth of sanding and treatment with Osmo worktop oil of this beautifull oak island worktop and bespoke bathroom cabinet in Brantham and added a shelf in the bathroom made from an offcut of the worktop 👌
