As the cold snap is coming in slowly it’s worth remembering who you you need when you do that you have the right person for the right job.
What is the difference between a plumber, a heating engineer and a gas engineer?
Gas Engineers
Gas appliances can be very dangerous. A gas engineer is fully trained to repair and service any gas appliance. All engineers who work with gas appliances have to be on the Gas Safe register.
Being on the Gas Safe register means that an individual has completed strict training and final assessments. There is annual training thereafter to maintain their Gas Safe register qualification.
If your gas boiler requires service, please bear in mind that a Gas Safe gas engineer is the only professional legally allowed to complete an annual gas boiler service for a landlord.
Heating Engineers
Heating engineers often work on boilers and central heating systems alongside gas engineers. But a heating engineer should not work with any gas appliances. Even though our heating engineers are highly trained professionals they are not on the Gas Safe register and therefore are not trained to carry out a gas boiler repair, a gas boiler service or a gas boiler installation safely.
A heating engineer can often be a qualified plumber too.
Plumbers
The difference between a plumber and both a heating engineer and a gas engineer is that a plumber is not qualified to repair, service or install any type of boiler. A plumber, however, can maintain other areas of your property that a gas or heating engineer won’t have knowledge of.
A plumber is ideal for:
- Installing and maintaining pipe work.
- Ensure the proper running of drainage and plumbing systems.
