This happened a year ago today. Sadly the tree had to be replanted on near by Derbyshire Dales public open space to give it every chance of survival after the allotment site was cleared. So much support felt from the community.

This happened today at Mayors Civic Service Matlock Town Council. Starkholmes Allotments, received the Community Action Award. Here’s what the Mayor said…

“Allotments tick so many boxes – well being, healthy low cost food, biodiversity and community. The Starkholmes allotment association and in particular the officers have pulled out all the stops to protect the allotments. They have worked tirelessly crowd-funding, preparing for legal proceedings and campaigning. Whilst we don’t know the final chapter of the story it’s important to recognise the positive action taken by Starkholmes allotments team of Officers - This week was and it feels very appropriate to celebrate this awesome community minded group of women who have spearheaded the campaign to save the allotments” 💚

This is the notice of sale of the Cavendish road car park and playing field. Not only will it mean cavendish road residents losing valuable car parking spaces that they've used without challenge for years, but also the loss of yet more greenfield space.
