So that’s a wrap…! 🄹🌱
31 days of social media posts across all 3 platforms… Instagram, Facebook & TikTok! 🤯
Here’s just a small highlight from a VERY busy month. I couldn’t possibly list everything that’s happened in August, or you’d be swiping all night šŸ« šŸ˜‚
A huge, heartfelt thank you to everyone who has followed along, popped into the shop to say hello (or ā€œwell done!ā€ 🤪), shared, liked, commented, and especially to those of you who have travelled from far and wide to come and see us in person!
It’s always such a pleasure meeting new faces and welcoming you to Wirksworth, with all of its wonderful quirkiness šŸ’—
So… what do I do tomorrow?! šŸ˜‚
Do I stop now and go back to the way things were before the challenge, or do I keep going? What do you think? Let me know in the comments!
And maybe… just maybe… YouTube next? šŸ¤”šŸ˜…
See you in September, Planty People! 🌱

So, the rain has arrived… have you watered your plants yet? šŸŒ§ļøšŸŒ±
These are just a select few of the plants in the shop that much prefer rainwater or filtered water, and yes, water from a filter jug absolutely counts! šŸ’§
Depending on where you live, tap water can contain higher levels of dissolved minerals and salts, as well as treatment chemicals such as chlorine or chloramine. Over time, some of these can build up in the substrate, and certain houseplants are much more sensitive to them than others.
You might notice things like crispy brown leaf tips, browning edges or unhappy looking leaves even though you feel like you’re doing everything else right!
So while the skies have finally opened, why not make the most of it? Pop a bucket or watering can outside, (or even better a water butt!) to collect a little rainwater and give your fussier plants a drink!
Just a few little tips & tricks to help keep your plants looking beautiful šŸ¤ŽšŸŒ±

To live without fear…!
I’ve been asked so many times whether I’d ever done anything like this before, and the honest answer is… no! šŸ˜‚
I’d love to tell you I had a perfect plan and everything has gone exactly the way I imagined it would, but that was never going to happen, and I never expected it to.
I was talking today about how there always seems to be ā€œsomething nextā€ something else to worry about, something else to organise, something else to pay for. But when I really think about it, I wouldn’t want it any other way.
Life would get pretty boring if everything stayed comfortable. Having something next keeps pushing me to learn, to do better, to be braver and to keep building something I’m proud of.
This reel is a little collection of videos from the very beginning of our journey, and looking back at them honestly feels like a distant memory… even though it hasn’t even been 6 months !!
So much can change when you stop waiting until you feel completely ready and just give it a go.
Here’s to whatever comes next.

Who knows where the road will take you? šŸ¤Ž
I never thought I’d get to live my dream of owning a little plant shop, but somehow this year I made it happen… and now I can’t wait to see what might be waiting around the next corner.
All of these audio clips of Dolly’s beautiful voice almost have me in tears! Growing up listening to Dolly Parton planted the seed of my love for country music, and over the years that love only grew, carrying me through some of the hardest times.
I play country music in the shop… probably a little too much šŸ˜‚ but I honestly don’t think I’ll ever get tired of it.
So, in true Dolly style, this week I had my nails pink & sparkly, pulled on my cowboy boots… and wrote a song!
Who knew the shop would become the perfect cosy little place to sit and write, listening to the rain thundering against the windows with Dolly’s voice inspiring me, as always.
I suppose that’s the funny thing about life… sometimes the road takes you somewhere you never expected, and sometimes you get brave enough to choose the turning yourself.
Here’s to finding out what’s next šŸ¤

Did you know…? šŸ‘€šŸ¤
Who knew you could carry a plant in one hand and a coffee in the other… good thing we have both at The Leafy Snug! šŸ˜‚šŸŒ±ā˜•ļø
Thank you to everyone who popped in to see us today! We know it was a proper downpour pretty much all day, so we really appreciate you braving the rain to come and say hello.
I can’t lie though… I quite enjoyed listening to the rain with the door wide open. There was something so refreshing and cosy about it, especially surrounded by all of our greenery! 🌱

In our little world, Wednesday is our reset day… 🌱
I can’t quite express how much I’ve needed the last two days to rest and recharge. I intend to make a different post about what’s really hit hard recently, but today I’m choosing to focus on the joyful little moments instead. šŸ¤
Me and our Molly escaped to the woods for a wander, taking in the trees, breathing in the fresh air, practising a few tricks… and, of course, handing out plenty of treats along the way 🐾
There’s something about a woodland walk that always seems to reset me. Admiring all the moss, the textures, the tiny details you miss when life is moving too quickly.
But it was also impossible not to notice this strange little ā€œfalse autumnā€ that seems to have arrived early this year. Leaves already falling, colours already changing. It feels almost unnatural, but still beautiful in a sad sort of way, knowing the wilderness is only just beginning to breathe again after such a dry, scorching summer.
Maybe that’s what I needed too.
A little time to slow down, breathe, reset and gather myself before another season begins to change. September is just around the corner and, if the last few weeks are anything to go by, life at The Leafy Snug isn’t going to be slowing down anytime soon… šŸŒ±šŸ‚
So, here’s to reset Wednesdays and starting again with a little more energy for whatever the next season brings. šŸ¤Ž
We’re back open tomorrow from 9:30am, coffee & plants galore! ā˜•ļøšŸŒ±

We’ve all been there… you find the perfect shape and colour plant pot, only to realise it’s just a little bit too big!
With so many different plastic nursery pot sizes, I often find that ceramic pots are the right diameter but just a little too tall. So, when the width is right but the height isn’t, this is what I do!
I add a small layer of LECA or stone pebbles to the bottom of the decorative pot to give the nursery pot a little boost and help it sit at the perfect height. A bit of padding, if you will… šŸ˜‚
LECA is particularly handy because if a little excess water drains through after watering, it can absorb some of that moisture rather than leaving the nursery pot sitting directly in a puddle. Just make sure you’re still emptying out any significant excess water to keep those roots happy! 🌱
Have you tried this before? Let me know!
And whilst our coffee machine was being repaired today, I made the most of it and unpacked our first delivery of plant pots this week! 🪓 A much bigger delivery will be landing at the shop this weekend, so stay tuned… ā˜ŗļø P.S. All jokes aside… plant pots must NOT be used as bras 🤣

Let’s be real…
At the end of the day, running a sustainable business will ultimately come down to money. It’s a slightly sad truth, but that doesn’t mean a good business has to be all about money.
I knew that starting out as just a little plant shop and building it day by day would be a slow burn, and I’ve genuinely enjoyed watching it grow. Watching the numbers change, some weeks good, some not so good, and learning as we go.
But the last few weeks have been a complete whirlwind.
We’ve been incredibly busy, so busy that our coffee machine even packed it in yesterday after making one too many coffees and started shooting hot water out of the top AND bottom šŸ˜… Luckily, it’ll be repaired in no time!
But what has really blown me away is our workshops.
With very limited spaces left, we are almost completely SOLD OUT across our upcoming dates. I hadn’t even realised that two of our October workshops had sold out within 24 hours of quietly going live on the website 🤯
And to top it all off… we’ve just had our busiest week yet.
Who knows what the magic recipe is?
Maybe it’s a little bit of this daily social media challenge. Maybe it’s finally getting all our signs finished. Maybe it’s word of mouth, people coming back, people telling their friends… and maybe there’s a little bit of luck thrown in there too.
Whatever it is, I’m incredibly grateful that people continue to walk through the door, book a workshop, buy a plant, grab a coffee and decide that what we’re building here feels worth spending their money on šŸ¤ŽšŸŒ±
