Here at ATV Contract Services we are able to provide a Hydroseeding service from both our Melton Mowbray office & Southern office, giving us national coverage with our highly skilled team. Hydroseeding is a method of seeding grass, vegetation, or even wildflowers by spraying a mixture of seed, mulch, fertilizer, and water onto a prepared soil surface.
This process is commonly used for erosion control, reclamation of disturbed areas, and establishing lawns on large or difficult terrain.
The hydroseeding mixture typically consists of seed, usually a combination of grass species suited to the specific site conditions, along with mulch materials such as wood fibres, to protect the seeds from erosion, retain moisture, and provide a stable environment for germination.
Fertilizers and other additives may be included to promote healthy growth.
The process begins with preparing the soil, removing any debris or rocks and ensuring proper grading for drainage. But can also be applied over existing short vegetation.
The hydroseeding machine then applies the seed mixture evenly over the soil surface using high-pressure spraying equipment that can be applied using our cannon that will reach 35-40 meters. A 60 meter hose can be used for the hard to reach areas that the cannon cannot get to and for a more fine attention to detail areas like next to pathways.
The mixture adheres to the soil, creating a bond that helps prevent erosion and promotes seed germination.
One of the main advantages of hydroseeding is its ability to cover large areas quickly and evenly, making it a cost-effective option for projects.
It also provides better seed-to-soil contact compared to traditional seeding methods, leading to higher germination rates and faster establishment of vegetation.
Hydroseeding is often used in various applications, including highway and roadside revegetation, erosion control on slopes and embankments, landscaping for residential and commercial properties, and restoring vegetation in areas affected by wildfires or construction activities.
