A new entrance, made properly.

This bespoke Linthorpe timber door has been designed, handcrafted and installed by the ERW team - bringing together traditional craftsmanship with the performance expected from a modern entrance door.

Made to complement the character of the property, rather than simply replace what was there before.

A quality finish starts long before installation.

Inside our spray booth, each timber window and door goes through a carefully controlled finishing process designed to protect the timber and create a consistent, high-quality finish.

It’s one of the many stages that happens behind the scenes before an ERW product reaches your home.

Made here. Finished here. Built to last.

You might know ERW for bespoke timber windows and doors. But our craftsmanship has also played a part in the story of one of Saltburn’s most famous landmarks 🌊

In 2020, ERW was commissioned by Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council to carry out specialist timber repairs to the Cliff Tramway’s existing carriages.

At the time, our work involved carefully removing decorative timber elements, replacing areas of perished panelling and cladding, inspecting concealed structural timber for water damage and carrying out repairs where required, all before reinstating the original decorative framework.

Those carriages have since reached the end of their working life. Following further deterioration from water ingress, the Council has undertaken a much larger programme of works which includes completely new replacement carriages.

ERW is not involved in the current rebuild, but with Saltburn’s famous Cliff Tramway back in the spotlight, it felt like a fitting time to look back at the part our team played in maintaining this much-loved local landmark.

Heritage buildings aren’t frozen in time. They require ongoing care, repair and, eventually, sensitive replacement, something we understand particularly well through our work with period and conservation properties.

Made from scratch, right here in our workshop.

Every ERW window and door passes through multiple stages before it leaves the factory, from timber preparation and joinery to finishing and final inspection.

It’s this hands-on approach that allows us to control the quality from start to finish.

Proud to support Aquatic Abyss.

ERW is incredibly proud to be sponsoring Aquatic Abyss and supporting Nick Parkes as he prepares to take on an extraordinary 22-mile solo swim across Loch Ness.

Nick’s story is remarkable.

During an open water race in 2023, Nick suffered a sudden cardiac arrest and was pulled unresponsive from the water by the Events Team. He was given CPR for 30 minutes by his now good friend, Leon Fryer, and was resuscitated after 20 minutes of downtime.

Thanks to the intervention of Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Nick survived.

He remained in a coma for two days before later undergoing a double heart bypass, carried out by the outstanding Cardiology Department at Sheffield General Hospital.

Against the odds, Nick returned to the water and to competitive swimming.

Now, the 10-time British Champion is preparing for his biggest challenge yet: swimming the full 22-mile length of Loch Ness, with the aim of becoming the first cardiac arrest survivor to complete the solo swim.

For ERW, the story also has a personal connection. Nick is a good friend of Stuart, our Sales and Marketing Director, which makes supporting this challenge particularly special to us.

Aquatic Abyss will raise vital funds and awareness for Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Sudden Cardiac Arrest, while sharing a powerful story of survival, resilience and determination.

We’re incredibly proud to play a small part in Nick’s journey.
Good luck, Nick. Everyone at ERW is behind you.

Can you make a period property warmer without losing its character?
In many cases, yes.

Vacuum glazing gives homeowners the opportunity to significantly improve the thermal performance of traditional windows while retaining the slim appearance associated with single glazing.

At just 8.3mm thick within our range, it can be particularly well suited to period, heritage and conservation properties where maintaining original character is important.
