✨ FROM MDF TO MADE-TO-MEASURE ELEGANCE ✨

Sometimes the most impressive transformations aren't about replacing furniture – they're about reimagining an entire space. 🤍
This project involved much more than painting a wardrobe and chest of drawers. I was responsible for the complete decorative transformation of the room, including wallpaper installation, colour selection, surface preparation and the final furniture finish.
🌸 The wallpaper, featuring a soft dusty pink background with delicate off-white floral details, became the starting point for the entire design scheme. To create a harmonious look, I recommended an off-white furniture colour that echoed the floral pattern rather than competing with it. A bright white would have felt too stark, while this softer shade brought warmth and elegance to the room.
🎨 The bespoke MDF wardrobe and matching chest of drawers were carefully prepared using specialist primers, undercoats and premium furniture paint. Between coats, the surfaces were lightly sanded to achieve an exceptionally smooth finish.
✨ Together with the clients, we chose an Eggshell finish – elegant, durable and beautifully balanced, offering a subtle sheen without excessive shine.
🖌️ The wardrobe presented a particular challenge due to its detailed panelled design. The numerous grooves, edges and recessed sections required a combination of fine artist brushes and high-quality mini rollers to achieve a flawless finish without brush marks, roller texture or paint runs.
🔨 Every joint, gap and imperfection between the MDF sections was carefully filled, refined and sanded before painting, helping the furniture appear as one seamless, professionally manufactured piece.
🏡 What makes this project especially satisfying is seeing how all the individual elements came together. The new wallpaper, carefully selected colour palette and freshly finished furniture completely transformed the atmosphere of the room. The space feels lighter, softer, more elegant and far more personal than before.
💗 I believe the finished room became a lovely surprise for its owner and a perfect example of how thoughtful decorating can completely change the feeling of a space without replacing everything in it.

Hi Everyone 😊

I’ve been reading quite a few posts on some local community groups lately where people explain that times are hard, everything is expensive, and that’s why they’re looking for things as cheap as possible – sometimes even for free 💭
And I understand that. Truly.
But here’s the part that often gets missed…
That same situation applies to us – tradespeople.
So when I see posts asking for a “good, reliable decorator” but also “cheap” or “lowest price possible” – it’s actually coming from the exact same place: rising costs and financial pressure.
The difference is – we’re on the other side of that equation.
We also pay bills.
We also deal with increasing costs.
We also support our households.
So while people are trying to save money, we are trying to survive and run our businesses at the same time.
Please remember – we are people too 🙏
Many of us have spent years building our skills, investing in tools, learning proper techniques and delivering quality work.
And some of us (myself included) genuinely care.
When I work in someone’s home, I treat it as if it were my own 🏡
Of course, everyone has the right to compare prices and choose what works for them 👍
But very often I see people choosing the cheapest option… and later being disappointed with the result.
My honest advice?
Choose someone who has passion for what they do ❤️
Because that’s what brings care, detail and long-lasting results.
Also worth remembering:
Self-employed tradespeople don’t have sick pay, holiday pay or guaranteed income.
If we don’t work – we don’t get paid.
On top of that, a lot of our time goes into:
– quotes 📝
– sourcing materials 🛒
– planning & organising jobs 📅
…and most of that is unpaid.
A decorator isn’t just someone who “rolls paint on the wall and leaves” 🎨
There’s preparation, experience and responsibility behind every job.
I believe my prices are fair and reflect the quality I deliver – especially after fixing work done by others.

Just something to think about 💭
Have a great day everyone 🙌✨

⚠️ A small reality check from a local painter & decorator 🎨🪜

A little thought from me today after repeatedly reading posts asking for the cheapest, quickest and highest-quality trader at the same time.
As a local painter and decorator based in Middleton, I would like to gently share a perspective from the other side.
Many experienced tradespeople genuinely do their very best to keep prices fair while still delivering high-quality workmanship. What is sometimes not visible is the reality of running a small self-employed business.
We cover all our own costs — professional tools and their maintenance, transport and fuel, insurance, time spent preparing quotations, sourcing materials within the client’s budget, and ongoing professional development, including attending paid courses to improve our skills and stay up to date with industry standards. We also do not receive paid holidays or sick pay. All of these responsibilities sit with us alone and naturally have to be reflected in the price of a professional service.
Good traders often take real pride in their work and treat every client’s home with the same care and attention as they would their own. Years of experience, reliability and accountability are part of what clients receive — not only the final visual result.
Of course everyone has a budget, which is completely understandable. However, the idea of a “reasonable price” is very subjective. A higher quote does not necessarily mean someone is overcharging — sometimes it simply reflects quality standards, experience and the true cost of running a responsible business.
Mutual respect and clear communication help both clients and tradespeople find the right fit.
Thank you to those who value craftsmanship, honesty and long-term reliability — it truly makes a difference.

Sometimes, in between larger decorating projects, I slow things down and work on something much smaller.
This custom leather keychain was made to order for someone very close to my heart, with Italian roots 🇮🇹🤍
It was entirely hand-tooled, hand-painted and carefully sealed — a quiet little project created with patience and attention to detail.
I’m sharing it here because whether I’m working on a small handcrafted piece or a full interior, the mindset stays the same: taking my time, respecting the materials and aiming for a beautiful, lasting finish.
Different scale. Same care.
If you appreciate thoughtful, well-finished work — feel free to get in touch.🤍

A small reflection from a local Painter & Decorator 🎨.

I often see posts asking for a “cheap, reliable and available ASAP” painter and decorator — sometimes needed today or tomorrow.

It made me pause for a moment 🤔..

Many people seem to be looking for the highest standard, the lowest price, and immediate availability — all at once.
But tradespeople are people too.
We are self-employed or small business owners. We pay rent or mortgages, energy bills, food shopping, fuel — just like everyone else. We feel the impact of rising costs and price increases in everyday life, the same as any other household.
On top of that, we cover materials, insurance, tools, vehicle costs and ongoing training. We invest years in building experience and improving our skills.
We also spend many hours providing free quotes — travelling to view properties, carefully assessing the work, preparing detailed estimates — and in most cases, this time and fuel cost the client nothing.
This isn’t a complaint 🤍
It’s simply a reminder that there is often much more happening behind the scenes than people realise.
Quality work takes time. Reliability requires organisation. Experience comes from years of practice and consistency.

So here is my gentle advice ✨
If you are looking for a decorator and expect a high standard — someone who would work in your home the same way they would in their own — try not to focus only on whether their rate is £5 per hour more than someone else’s.
Before being too quick to judge on price, consider what may stand behind it:
years of experience, attention to detail, commitment and pride in the craft — all the things that you describe as “reliable.”
Fair value works both ways.
Just something to reflect on 💭

✨ During the festive period, with a little more free time and while setting up my new craft studio, I came across some of my earlier small handcrafted pieces.
This hand-painted wooden bookmark, inspired by medieval sacral ornamentation (14th–15th century), is one of them 📖🎨
A reminder that alongside interior decoration and finishing work, handcraft and detail-focused making have always been part of my creative path.
This piece will be revisited and refined — sealed with varnish and finished with a decorative detail — and I’m sure it won’t be the last time I return to this kind of work ✨
Sometimes creative threads simply wait for the right moment to come back 🤍

✨ Moments that stay in your heart ✨

Today I finished a project at one of my regular client’s homes – this time painting the stairs. This family has been very special to me, as I’ve had the chance to watch their three wonderful boys grow and make progress over the past few months. Many times, while I was working, I could hear them in the background learning to read and write – and it was such a joy to witness their efforts.

What touched me the most was how warmly I was always welcomed and later waved goodbye. On my last day, the boys surprised me with handmade paper cards, folded like flowers with their own little signatures inside, together with chocolates. 💌🍫 It moved me to tears.

For me, it’s not only about completing a job – it’s about being truly seen and acknowledged, not just as a worker, but as a presence in their home. And that’s something I will always treasure. ❤️

I truly wish everyone could experience clients like this and work in such warm, kind conditions. And as I move on to my new place in Leeds, I wish the same for myself – and for all of you. ✨

⚒️ For those who don’t know yet — besides my regular painting & decorating work, I have a real passion for crafting 🎨✨
Sometimes unique projects and creative collaborations pop up, like this Viking shield 🛡️ below, painted together with my partner and created especially for him.
I had the pleasure of overseeing the project and helping bring the hand-painted runes to life 🎨, making sure everything was balanced and symmetrical 🔍
Though these kinds of projects don’t come around often due to limited time, they’re always a huge pleasure to be part of — whether co-creating or working solo.
I’ve even recreated this design in miniature shields before 🪶💛 It’s a different kind of creativity I love to explore alongside my main work!
