🍃 Hold on… we won’t be cutting hedges just yet! 🍃
We’ve had lots of enquiries about hedge cutting recently and have also noticed plenty of hedges being trimmed at this time of year.
🍃 Here’s why we won’t 🍃
Between March and August, many birds choose hedges as a safe place to build their nests and raise their young. 🐦🪺
While there isn’t a blanket ban on hedge cutting in domestic gardens, it is illegal to intentionally damage or destroy an active bird’s nest.
At Berry’s Garden Services, we believe it’s our responsibility to help protect the wildlife that calls our gardens home. 🥰
🍃 But other people are doing it… 🍃
Some gardeners and contractors may be happy to carry out hedge cutting during these months, but we take great pride in our reputation and our commitment to working responsibly and with nature in mind.
There are a few exceptions, including:
🍃 Light trims to box hedging
🍃 Trimming hedges that are causing an obstruction
Even in these situations, we would always thoroughly check for nesting birds first and would not carry out the work if an active nest was found.
It may seem a little way off, but our diary is now open for hedge trimming from September onwards. That’s when we’ll be firing up the trimmers again and will be more than happy to help! ⭐️
