Some developments at the cottage! Hard work moving those boulders but worth it. The bridge is made from mostly reclaimed decking and just made as I went along, still only a temporary measure but Bumble was moaning 😱 Also installation of the blade waterfall and hidden the smaller filter at the same time 👍🏻

Had an emergency call this morning from a neighbour who's pump had failed overnight. Nipped over at 9 and had a reconditioned pump, cage and replacement hose installed within a couple of hours. Pics to follow but another happy customer with happy fish 🐟🐟😁

Some new additions to the pond, makes all that tiling worth it 😁

A bigger job than expected today, certainly messier!! At the end of the day happy fish and happy customers makes it worth it 🙂 a full pond clean, service to the pump and basic filter installed. Water dechlorinated and algae treatment added to finish. Wasn't allowed in the cottage until I'd showered, so thankful for a downstairs shower or I would have been hosed down before being allowed in 🤣🤣

A day of something different, whilst the pond cleaner bits got their thing on in the pond (Klean Xtra and Equalizer).

So after repositioning the small pump and separating the ponds again, I lifted the main bridge to gather up some escapees from the small goldfish pond, 7 of the little blighters!!

Vacuumed most of the pond for algae and w**d.

Fixed a small leak on the UV filter, just some different sized hose required.

Completed and installed the gully/river prototype (pic 4), all working as expected, just need to make it look the part.

Started work on the Japanese style bridge that will be going over the gully/river (pic 1-3). Not looking too shabby for a bit of free wood from IKEA. The inner edge is routed for 1/2" thick treads. Just need a bit to do the other side out of now 😉

Insulated the Guinea Pig's hutch roof.

Installed another smaller filter, only a 2500 but it's the UV power I'm interested in!! The big filter can deal with both and also supported by an independent 55w UV filter. Nearly 100w of UV filtration, take that Algae!!!!

Also knocked up a little stand for the electric toothbrushes!! They do my head in at wash up time, always falling over, they need some lessons from Weebles 🤣🤣

Introducing some additions to the pond; 4 x British Koi (Hannibal, Face, B.A. and Murdoch), 1 x small Japenese Koi (Little Butters), 1 x slightly bigger Japanese Koi (Angry Butters), 1 x Diamond Sturgeon (Sooty), 1 x Golden Sterlet (Snowy) and 1 little bonus Mirror Carp (Colin) 🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟

So Friday morning brought a bit of a nasty surprise and a whole lotta cleaning. A mystery tear emptied half the pond 😱 This did, however, bring around an opportunity that I had been waiting for. Once all the fish were transferred to their new pond and holding tank I emptied the whole damn thing!!

This allowed us to see the true scope of the silt layer at the bottom. From previous trips in the pond I thought that it was around 2-3 inches of silt. What we found was at least 10 inches of silt, sludge and gravel!!

So after 6 hours of hardcore sweeping, scooping, 3 trips with a very full wheelbarrow, a good scrub, a jet wash and a repair, I was happy!!

The results are amazing though 😁🐟🏞
