Sometimes words fail to describe a situation.

Last Thursdays disaster at Cutcombe Hill is no exception and has left the residents of Minehead and those most associated with Minehead Middle School reeling in disbelief and shock.

As a local company with very close ties to our local fire crews at Minehead, the first crews on scene, we send our deepest thanks to all those involved on what was an unprecedented horrific incident and our sincere condolences to the parents of Oliver Price who was sadly lost.

Not only to our blue light family, but also a host of passers-by who stepped up with no consideration to their own safety in prioritising other people's children and aiding their escape from the coach and into the care of local villagers from Weddon Cross. In our view these actions are to be highly commended and We thank you all.

In an effort to support the amazing fundraising currently being undertaken locally for those affected by this incident, for the last few days of July and the Month of August a percentage of our profits will be donated via the Minehead Middle School in an effort to help and assist those in genuine need of support and assistance. This will apply to those jobs already in progress as well as any further works requested by the public or our own customer bank during that time.

A heating and hot water system renovation.

This system was in working order but nearing the end of its reliable life.
The controls were not responding, the boiler needed a lot of new parts and the under floor aspect was uncontrollable, hearting up zones of the house unnecessarily, over heating the house and costing a fortune to run.

After much discussion with the owners it was decided to rip out and start again with much better control, reliable heating and hot water, with warranty’s in place for that additional peace of mind.

-The heating system was flushed removing all debris and contamination.

-A wireless controls system was added to give room by room control cutting down drastically on energy consumption, not heating parts of the house that aren’t in use, but keeping a low back ground temperature at all times when required.

-A new Worcester appliance for the heat source.

-A Megaflo unvented cylinder for the hot water solution.

-Our care and attention on the installation as standard. As well as on going care to maintain and service each year.

If you have a system thats starting to give those troublesome niggles, then it may be time to think about renewing before the winter months draw in!

We also offer repair and maintenance to help keep things going as long as possible.

A few months ago you may of seen our loft installation of a new heating and hot water heater system for a large holiday let in Minehead.

Well here are some of the installation photos of the bathroom to follow up with.

The room was totally gutted and taken back to bare wall.

-Added shaver socket

-New pipework was hidden in the walls to supply the house with heating and hot water without effect the clean lines of the bathroom.

-The system was converted from a small combi boiler to a larger system type installation to provide hot water at a much better flow rate, giving ample hot water to multiple rooms at the same time.

-An accumulator was used to help with the poor flow rate into the property.

-The customer had chosen all the lovely fixings to match the decor, with herringbone wall paneling.

-Lighting on a dimmer for those cozy nights in.

The end results speak for them selves, a fantastic area to relax in.

As expected the customers were really pleased with the results as were we.

“I hardly use this fire it doesn’t need servicing!”

Oh really? Are you sure about that?

Just take a look at these photos of Fire we are asked to inspect alongside of boiler service !

Honestly, I think they’re very lucky we did.

Not only is Fire in an absolute atrocious state ,

The third photo shows an upshot of the flu system.

Unbelievably, the products of combustion were still being evacuated from the property, but at a very reduced rate .

Apparently, there’s a flue liner in there as well not even connected to the fire.

As you can see, the original installer has pushed Rockwall insulation up into the flu passage.

The hole was smaller than a fist, and on its way to be completely blocked up from dust and cobwebs.🕸️

If the flue was to become blocked, certainly products are combustion would’ve started entering the premises, and with the lack of a carbon monoxide alarm, it doesn’t take a genius to work out what the outcome could’ve been.

Gas appliances are recommended to be inspected at least once a year by someone who has the relevant qualifications to work on that appliance.

This appliance was capped from the mains and made safe.

Normally in our posts we try to promote ourselves however, this post is more for awareness and to try and prevent a family losing someone.

I would strongly urge anyone who has a fire that’s not been inspected for awhile or a boiler or any other gas appliances for that matter to get in touch with a gas safe registered engineer in your area and have your gas appliances inspected.

We also recommend giving your local PlumbCenter or city plumbing a call and ask for recommendations, these people deal with credible engineers daily and can probably recommend someone they feel who would do a good job.

It’s been go go go since Christmas but here’s one of our new year systems!

One of our bigger system installs,

Customer required a much better water delivery for their air BNB 4 bed property,

Combi boilers are okay. But unless you get a really big one your water delivery will always be limited, and if the boiler fails you tend to loss heating and hot water!

So we recommend a system with back up!

We added a horizontal un-vented cylinder with twin back up elements, just in case the boiler was to fault, they would always have hot water.

We chose the Worcester 8000 system boiler with 12 year warranty. A tried and tested unit with great reliability!

We moved the boiler out of the bathroom giving more space for the bathroom renovation…. Photos to come.. still in progress!

Everything went in the loft space, we boarded out the floor and added a vinyl finish to protect the Stirling board from any water! Not that we have leaks!! 😛

We added a 200lt accumulator to boost the flow rate to the new bathroom and second bathroom. Now the customer can run both bathrooms at the same time without interfering with each other.

The customer now has 250 litres of hot water at a rate of 23+ lt per minute flow rate at the shower and bath, previously it was 8! With the added benefit of a reliable heat source and the latest control system, giving full control over the heating and hot water remotely, ensuring guests are warm at all times.

Not to mention our full back up for peace of mind.
