Now that we've had a couple of days to take it all in, we wanted to share just how proud we are of our MD, Karen Farrell-Thornley.

Last Friday, at the Cheshire and North Wales Business Awards, Downtown in Business, Karen unexpectedly received the Chief Executives Award 2026.

As headline sponsors of the event, we were already looking forward to celebrating the achievements of businesses and individuals from across the region. What we didn't expect was for Karen to be the one walking away with an award herself... to say she was surprised would be an understatement.

Many people see the success, but not always the years of hard work, long days, difficult decisions and determination that have gone into building the business. From a family business based in North Wales, just off the A*5 Expressway, to supporting one of the UK's leading supermarket retailers nationwide, it has been quite a journey.

This recognition adds to a series of milestones, including winning the Business Services B2B Award at the North West Family Business Awards in 2024, and being named Woman of the Year in 2025. To now receive this award in 2026 makes this moment even more special, and still very unexpected.

The day itself was a busy one. Karen took part in a Q&A discussing the growth of Crime Prevention Services, the launch and development of The tecdesk, and the opportunities and challenges that come with growing a business. She also had the honour of presenting the Man of the Year award to Rick Parry of the English Football League.

For our team, the most memorable part of the day was seeing someone who gives so much to the business, our people and our clients receive recognition from her peers. Seeing how genuinely overwhelmed and grateful she was made the award all the more meaningful.

Congratulations Karen. This recognition is thoroughly deserved, and we couldn't be prouder of everything you have achieved.

Thank you to Frank Mckenna and the team at Downtown in Business, Lucy Meacock, Chester Racecourse, Nugent & Everybody involved in creating such an incredible day.

If you've worked with Karen, met her through business, or followed her journey over the years, we'd love for you to join us in congratulating her in the comments below.

Every year, we are proud to support the Charity Shoot, an event that has become a highlight of the North Wales business calendar and one that continues to make a real difference to local children and families.

While the day itself is always filled with friendly competition, networking and plenty of laughter, the purpose behind it is what truly matters.

Children's hospices such as Hope House and Tŷ Gobaith provide vital care and support to children with life limiting conditions and their families. At a time when charities across the UK are facing increasing financial pressures and charitable giving is becoming more challenging, fundraising events like this have never been more important.

This year's Charity Shoot raised an incredible £𝟰𝟲,𝟬𝟬𝟬, bringing the total amount raised since the event began to an outstanding £𝟖𝟑𝟔,𝟎𝟎𝟎. These figures are a testament to the generosity, commitment and community spirit shown by everyone involved over the years.

The Charity Shoot demonstrates what can be achieved when businesses come together for a common cause. Through sponsorship, participation and fundraising, the event helps ensure that families facing some of life's most difficult challenges can continue to access the specialist care, respite and support they need.

Our MD, Karen Farrell, has been involved with the Charity Shoot since its early days and played a key role in helping establish the event. Seeing how it has grown into such a well supported and respected fundraiser is something we are incredibly proud of.

We are also delighted to see the launch of the new Charity Shoot website, which showcases the event's history, photographs, sponsors and fundraising efforts, while making it easier than ever for individuals and businesses to learn more and get involved.

A huge thank you to the organisers, volunteers and every business that sponsors and supports the event year after year. The continued success of the Charity Shoot would not be possible without the collective efforts of our fellow sponsors, whose generosity helps turn a great day into meaningful support for local children and families.

If you haven't attended before, we would encourage you to consider joining next year's event. Whether you're looking to support an incredible local charity, strengthen business connections or simply enjoy a fantastic day with colleagues and clients, the Charity Shoot offers the opportunity to do all three while helping make a genuine difference in our community.

Together, we are helping ensure that Hope House and Tŷ Gobaith can continue providing life changing support to the children and families who rely on their services.

Training Day with The Firebeam Company 🔥

Did you know retail premises account for nearly 1 in 5 workplace fires across the UK? With large open spaces, high ceilings, electrical equipment and busy operational environments, reliable early fire detection is more important than ever.

Our team recently completed specialist training as part of our continued investment in fire safety across our nationwide supermarket contract.

Beam smoke detectors are designed specifically for large open retail and warehouse style environments, helping provide faster and more reliable smoke detection where traditional point detection may not always be practical.

Continuous manufacturer training ensures our engineers stay up to date with the latest fire detection technology, helping us deliver high standards of life safety, compliance and protection across national retail premises.

Great to spend the day with the team and continue expanding our technical expertise in advanced fire detection systems.

Getting out on site before a project begins is an important part of delivering successful installations. 👷

Ben and Celine recently visited one of the stores on our nationwide discount food retailer contract to gain a better understanding of the project ahead of works commencing.

For Ben, who produces our CAD drawings and project plans, seeing the site first hand helps bring layouts and designs into real world context. For Celine, who supports our installation department with project coordination, logistics, engineer support, and kit organisation, it provides valuable insight into how projects operate on site day to day.

Strong projects are not only built by engineers on the ground, they are supported by teams behind the scenes who keep everything running smoothly from planning through to completion.

It is also great to see more women continuing to build careers within the fire and security industry, across both operational and office based roles.

Some traditions are too good not to keep going 🎉

Over the years, the milestone birthday banners have become a bit of a tradition, and this year it’s Karen’s turn for the big 60.

Proof that while the years keep passing, Karen just keeps getting more fabulous.

From the iconic blonde perm and retro jackets, to country pursuits and everything in between, some things may have changed over the years… but her energy, humour, and ability to light up a room never will. ❤️

She does so much for so many people, so today it’s all about celebrating her properly, with a big party surrounded by friends, family, and everyone lucky enough to know her.

Wishing you the happiest 60th birthday Karen, we hope the party is as legendary as you are 🥂

And if you’ve spotted the birthday banner while driving along the A*5, let us know below and wish her a Happy Birthday! 🎈

When you run busy hospitality venues, there is no room for unreliable security or fire systems. One issue on a busy weekend can quickly become a major problem.

We are proud to have supported one of our long standing hospitality clients across multiple venues, helping keep their businesses protected, compliant, and running smoothly with CCTV, intruder alarms, access control, fire alarms, and ongoing support.

If your current provider is slow to respond, difficult to deal with, or you feel your systems are no longer fit for purpose, speak to our team. We can assess and often take over existing systems without the need to start from scratch.

Trusted by hospitality and entertainment venues that need systems they can rely on.

Two young intruders thought they had an easy target, they were wrong within seconds 👋🚨

Our 24 hour in house alarm receiving centre picked up the activity instantly through monitored CCTV. Within moments, our operator visually verified the threat and issued a live tannoy audio challenge directly to the site.

They were told they had been seen on CCTV, that the premises were under active monitoring, and that the police would be contacted.

They left within minutes.

This is the power of remote monitored CCTV combined with live audio intervention. Not just recording crime, but actively preventing it in real time.

Real people. Real monitoring. Real protection for homes and businesses, 24 hours a day.

If your site is unprotected out of hours, you are already exposed.
