If you like Brassaiopsis mitis then Brassaiopsis fatsioides is an absolute must-have โ think of it as a mitis on steroids, with much bolder foliage, thicker texture, and an even more architectural presence in the garden.
It also tends to cope better with colder UK winters once established, especially in sheltered gardens with a good microclimate. The huge tropical leaves and stout stems give it that proper jungle look while still being surprisingly resilient.
One of the best things about fatsioides is how dramatic it becomes with age
It also has more of a branching habit compared to B.Mitis which generally grows as a single stem, the leaves get larger, more deeply lobed, and it develops a really imposing structure that works brilliantly in exotic-style planting schemes alongside things like tree ferns, tetrapanax, schefflera and hardy bananas.
