Morden Hall Park NT

Morden Hall Park NT FREE entry. Childhoods begin paddling and splashing, climbing in trees and playing through meadows. A place to meet, to fall in love, to form memories.

An ancient, Arcadian country estate of fine trees and open skies, enveloped by London and saved by a far-sighted philanthropic. ‘Our park’, a place owned and loved by those who use it every day. Water is everywhere, the harnessed power of the river Wandle which drove local industry and milled snuff: surging in places and tamed in others. There are no barriers at Morden Hall Park: either real or im

agined. This is the National Trust for ever, for everyone. Commuters walk to work, teenagers ride their bikes, mums relax in the rose garden and locals meet in the café. Wildlife is abundant: kingfishers, herons, dragonflies. London is ever present: the regular rattle of the tram, birdsong mixing with sirens but escape and tranquillity is never far away.”

It is 250 years since the adoption of the Declaration of Independence and the formation of the United States, and the Stableyard Secondhand Bookshop is marking the occasion with a special display celebrating the history, politics, literature and art of America.

While stocks last, you'll find Abraham Lincoln rubbing shoulders with Mark Twain, alongside tales of revolution, pioneers, Native American history, outlaws of the Wild West and the exploration of a vast continent. There are also books exploring American art, wildlife and some of the country's most influential historical figures.

Whether you're fascinated by the American Revolution, the Civil War, the frontier, or more recent times there's plenty to discover.

Every purchase helps support the care of Morden Hall Park.

The bookshop is open daily, 10am to 3pm.

Thanks to everyone who came to the Hadley Road Community Allotments Open Day last weekend. The sun came out, and it was a great turnout.

Our Community Ranger, Najwa, has been working with various young people's groups at the National Trust plot on the Hadley Road allotments for over a year now. She's been working with them to co-create and design a space, whilst teaching gardening skills, providing access to nature and offering volunteering opportunities.

One of the groups that Najwa works with there is the Cricket Green 6th form & Allotment Team. They recently won a bronze Civic Pride Volunteer Award from . Well done to all involved.
