Project Update – Restoration in Moseley, Birmingham
Hi everyone! It’s been a while since we last posted – we’ve been hard at work on a major restoration project in Moseley, Birmingham. When I first visited this property, it was in a pretty poor state. The previous company had advised the client to rip everything out and start again, claiming the walls and ceilings were beyond saving. Sadly, that advice was based on a lack of knowledge and craftsmanship – not the reality of what could be achieved. After a thorough first meeting, we reassured the client that restoration was possible – and that’s exactly what we delivered. Restoring period properties is our speciality, and this project was a perfect example of what the right approach can achieve.
Here’s what we did in this room:
• Fully restored the original sash window, bringing it back to life
• Carefully restored the wooden floor
• Removed the ceiling (unfortunately, the lath and plaster couldn’t be saved)
• Retained most of the original walls – we repaired failed areas, applied mesh reinforcement, and used our spray plaster system with three coats for a smooth finish
• Stripped and sanded all woodwork
• Fully stripped the doors due to poor prep work by previous decorators
The client brought in an interior designer for the colour scheme, and I have to say – it turned out beautifully. The results speak for themselves. We’re proud to bring craftsmanship and care to every restoration project, no matter the condition we find it in. Thanks for following along
