Hacked again, this time by suspected Russian group but awaiting an update to that.

Faxociety - Your CCTV is Vulnerable and can be exposed at the moment.

Hikvision Hacked by Faxociety - Your CCTV is Vulnerable

An active attack is currently being carried out on 1000s of Hikvision DVRs, NVRs and cameras which use old firmware and weak passwords.

The hack is believed to insert text using the on screen display (OSD) settings and displays the following message:

"Your CCTV is vulnerable and can be exposed, fix it pls - DIY or Telegram me - faxociety."

We have had multiple phone calls to assist people with this and I expect more. There is currently no updates from Hikvision.
Machine upgrade is the only current option if the system if critical. Until Hikvision get off their arse.

This hack appears to be 3-4 weeks old. The system will eventually go offline e as others discover how the hack works.

We don’t install hikvision systems, but if you have one installed, before todays date,be aware that your cctv and local network (pcs, computers, storage drives, personal folders) are all ACCESSIBLE to people over the internet If you have a hikvision cctv system or camera on your system. This is registered as a 9.4 of 10 vulnerability scale as assessed by hikvision themselves.

There’s always a reason other installers are cheaper. Get in touch with us if your worried about this risk for an assessment, where a qualified and vetted engineer will carry out a security review for you and we can recommend an upgrade route to a more secure system.
