A bit of a background on KEM …
KEM has been operating since 2000 when it’s Director, a fresh faced 23 year old Kevin, was made redundant following the liquidation of his former employer. The liquidators, KPMG, approached Kevin and asked him to continue working on several existing contracts. In order to make this financially worthwhile, this prompted Kevin to approach other existing clients such as NG Bailey (and very much a current, loyal client of KEM) who had Kevin complete 2 further projects at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee. Named after the founder Kevin Edward McInally, the concept for KEM was born. Working from offices in SkyPark, Glasgow, KEM expanded its client base, as well as it’s employees. At this time, KEMs expertise was solely on ventilation.
Through hard work and determination, KEM continued to pursue contracts and expand their client base. Word of mouth was an extremely powerful tool and future clients thus approached KEM. Contracts became more complex and required full MEP rather than solely ventilation so KEM and it’s employees trained and familiarised themselves with the additional services requirements (detailed drainage, water services, heating and chilled water, as well as well as additional mechanical and electrical services) using an evolving ventilation package (CADduct) that incorporated all MEP services that later became CADduct solids. From then on, KEM was providing fully coordinated drawings.
During the years of operation, KEM has always strived to employ those that’s talents are recognised and deserving of place within our office. As Kevin had experienced briefly losing a job, his main aim was to ensure staff whom he employed felt valued and would be comfortable in the knowledge that they had a secure source of employment.
The team has always remained very small and stable over the years however in the last 5 years, workload and demand, have seen KEM expanded its workforce by more than double. Although still a small team of 8, we provide extensive experience to multi-million pound projects all over the UK.
Next month, KEM will be relocating to a much larger premise … more updates to follow soon 👀📍🏢 ✍🏼
