Greener Tree Services

Greener Tree Services We offer a full range of tree services including; reductions, removals, crown lifts, dead wood removal and wood chipping.

All work is undertaken by our small team of fully qualified arborists. We are dedicated to environmentally friendly practices. At Greener Trees we are a small family run business looking to provide quality service with an emphasis on looking after the environment. We have decided that for every tree we remove, we will donate to have another tree planted in its native habitat. We only use biodegrad

able oils to ensure that we do not leave harmful substances on your property. We believe in reuse and recycling and encourage the use of green waste for composting and weed control. That's why when we chip branches we ensure it is put to good use. In situations where the woodchip requires removal from your property, we make sure it is delivered to locations where it will be used. Whether this is for animal bedding, for gardening or for compost. If you would like a free delivery of woodchips please get in touch. We aim to provide an affordable service throughout the Highlands. Some very happy chickens enjoying a load of woodchip we delivered for them last week. Chickens love digging through piles of chip looking for tasty things. Currently taking bets on how long it'll be until they manage to stamp it all into the dirt!

Gavin the chipper enjoying some conifer branches. He's a big machine and makes short work of even meaty branches.

Took down some monster cypress trees last week. They were likely nearly 100 years old but had been topped a number of times so they were nearly as wide as they were tall. The biggest was probably around 12ft deep. The owners are going to plant some native flowering trees and fruit trees to replace them.

Ended up with three tipper loads of chip, an impressive pile of logs and a lot more space in the garden (you can see the dead/dry ground that was under the trees). We'll be back soon to grind the stumps back too.

Our chipper, who we have nicknamed Gavin, doing its thing! Chip can either be left on site for you to use in your garden or taken away and used by a member of your community. We took away three tipper loads of chip from one job this week. Gavin earning his keep for sure!

Oscar doing some stump grinding in the beautiful sunshine we've been having lately. Stump grinding removes the last of the tree stump and the upper section of the root ball which then allows for the reinstatement of lawns or whatever you'd like to do with the area.

Greener Trees now offer a kite removal service!

We've been working on a large job this week and the owners said this kite had been stuck in the tree for years! Stuart offered to climb up and get it down for them.

Snow showers aside, this was a great job to work on. A lovely couple recently moved into a house with a garden that'd had gotten slightly out of hand. Here you can see the removal of several large shrub trees from an arrangement in the front garden. There's now much more open with space to plant some new things when the weather improves.

On a recent job we had a tree that was scheduled to be removed but we spotted this tiny little birds nest hidden in the ivy. Our best guess is that it's a bullfinch nest, the egg was only about 20mm long!

All wild bird species, their eggs and nests are protected by law. Birds can start breeding as early as February and can keep going until October. However, if it's unseasonably warm they can nest and lay eggs even in the middle of winter.

In this instance we informed the property owner who was happy for us to leave the tree in question for now. We'll come back in a few weeks to see if the chick has fledged before we finish this job.
