Planning Success: Listed Building Transformation in the Heart of Alresford
Conservation Area Renovation and Planning Permission for Garage Conversion to Self Contained Annex
Preserving the past while designing for the future, that was the guiding philosophy behind the Alresford Architectural transformation of a Cottage in Central Alresford.
Situated within a Grade II listed Mews, the property demanded the utmost sensitivity in both architectural design and structural re engineering. The brief was to create a refined family home, whilst honouring and safeguarding the historic fabric that defines the cottage’s character.
Working in close collaboration with Wi******er City Council’s Conservation and Heritage Specialists, Gary White an Architectural Practioner & Planning Consultant based in Alresford, prepared a rigorous and comprehensive submission.
This included a full heritage impact assessment, detailed materials analysis, conservation methodology, and a suite of technical design drawings crafted to satisfy both national and local heritage policy.
Permission was secured for the complete renovation of the listed cottage together with the conversion of the existing garage into a fully self contained annex, a rare and highly notable dual approval within a designated conservation area central to Alresford town.
This achievement reflects the importance of an expert planning strategy, meticulous conservation detailing, and the value of design led project management from concept through to completion.
