We are pleased to receive planning permission for this new-build house in New Deer, Aberdeenshire. The building has a simple, crisp external design. The internal accommodation has a well-flowing, practical layout over a single storey. The interior space opens up to vaulted ceilings and glazed gables at the family room and at the lounge to create light-filled, contemporary spaces.

Delighted to receive planning approval this week for a transformative home extension and alterations project in Aberdeenshire. The Council reached a decision in less than 5 weeks from submission (typically taking min. 8 weeks).
We propose repositioning the original stair, extending the existing 1970s flat roofed extension upwards, and adding a clever juxtaposition of new gables and roofs. The interior space will make for a more spacious, connected and flowing modern family home. The external appearance of the building will be transformed into a handsome house with traditional proportions and materials, but with a contemporary edge. We'll be moving straight onto the building warrant with the project due to start on site in the company months. 😊

Feeling inspired by our site visit to this ruinous steading today. There's something very beautiful about the layers of building elements and the places formed in-between them. Hoping a new piece of architecture can be created here, whilst retaining the strong sense of place and history. 😊

We recently designed and built this gate and side panel utilising leftover timbers from the house and posts that had previously been used on site for a horse shelter. The design was intended to continue various design 'themes' of the house. The posts would probably be discarded by most people but the sentimental value and rustic chic aesthetic won us over! The small 'windows' at different heights enables adults and children to see through.

FARMHOUSE REVAMP PART 2 - EXTENSIONS + GARAGE
The addition of a south facing sun room extension, porch with covered entrance area and replacement garage aim to make this traditional farmhouse more practical and enjoyable for a busy modern family.
Our proposed design intends to improve the sense of arrival, usable space and connection with the garden spaces.
The sunroom in particular should be a fantastic space with a vaulted ceiling, exposed timber structure, glazed gable (with window seat and valuable storage space below) and large glazed doors opening up to a sun trap patio area.

Our Julien Brown Jnr completed the 74mile Methlick Cycle Challenge on Sunday, raising money for local charities. It was a lovely day for it and well supported by the local community. Well done to everyone who took part. 👏
