All of our marbled designs are created by me on paper and then brought to the studio to edit and select. Sometimes we use the entire design or we crop a section of the pattern to create a repeating artwork which can be used as fabric as well as cushions and lampshades. If you scroll through these images you will see some of the end results and where they originally came from. As an ex fashion editor I have always been interested in editing and creating stories. In fact I have so many marbled papers that it is often fun to return to the piles of archived papers to see if there is something I overlooked that might work now. Once digitised we also adjust the colour to make a broader collection for our customers to choose from. Do you have any favourites?

Now it’s June I feel like summer has officially arrived! The heating is off although here in Northumberland you often need some extra layers. Summer always makes us focus more on our linen collection and this Beige Ripple design is a firm favourite in the studio. The design was created by marbling on a piece of plywood and double dipping the wood to create a layered artwork. I then mirrored the design digitally and this pretty circular motif became the focus of the print. With pops of almost neon pink against a more neutral background, it really is very striking. Photographed here both as fabric backdrop to my portrait and also in one of their gorgeous bedrooms. As you can see in the last image is also a fan! We will be putting our linen fabric live again next week as we are working with some new printers here in England so watch this space…

We were so excited to discover that the beautiful American actress .karam had not only got engaged to the very handsome but also was photographed for Hello magazine in front of our Dahlia Plumes wallpaper. Natacha has chosen this pretty pink marbled design of ours for her seating niche and we love the result. Wishing Natacha and John all the happiness in the world 💖🥂

It was such a fun and glamorous night out for the opening of the in Chelsea Harbour last week. And all the more enjoyable since I went with the brilliant who is local to me in Northumberland and always lots of fun. Charlotte and I are both designers who took up fabric design later on in life and live literally 15 minutes from each other. We often look at one another’s new designs and support each other when one of us is needing a listening ear or some understanding and most importantly encouragement. Both of us have shown which is always a nice way to punctuate working out of the capital and a great way to connect and show off our collections. Do you work in a small team or alone and have fellow folk to bounce ideas off and share with? Supporting each other is paramount and I am eternally grateful for all the help and support I have received from so many encouraging and kind people since starting my business just over ten years ago now…

Sometimes it is perfect to keep your interior super simple and just add one colourful piece of pattern play in the space. I would say that have achieved that beautifully when they decided to use our Dahlia Plumes linen fabric on this statement headboard. I am working on a new project where I am trying to hold myself back from ‘overdoing’ it with colour and pattern. Are you a minimalist or a maximalist?

We loved photographing our collection in the beautiful sunny house and we found so many perfect spots to perch both our linen and velvet designs. It did help that Anna had reupholstered her exquisite Bergere sofa using our Duck Egg Bouquet velvet so we couldn’t resist adding some matching tasseled cushions (which we left there as they paired so perfectly!) and were thrilled that we had such a handsome model 🐕

Our gorgeous London flat that was designed in collaboration with interior designer was featured and in the fabulous coffee table book - and features many of our designs. It’s a jewel box of an apartment and we have punctuated the space with our patterns for upholstery, curtains and blinds and wallpaper. The sofa was made and features our Blue Rose Marbled velvet, the hallway is encased with our Dahlia Plumes wallpaper and the master bedroom features our Stripy Rose chintz for both the headboard and wallpaper for the en suite shower room. I enjoyed my first ever visit on one of the hottest days of the year so far in London. It is spread out over a large area around Farringdon in various buildings and churches and showcases a plethora of talented, home grown designers including a lot of wooden furniture makers and some exciting progressive ideas. There are plenty of ideas for work stations, offices and home work spaces. It was particularly nice to meet up with my design friends from Cambridge and her daughter who showed me around. My general takeaway was texture, material and craftsmanship. Here are just a few of my highlights which included finishing the day with a delicious late lunch .tto with my daughter Sophie
