So what happens when you work with WBC on a project?
Brief - The project, an existing small stone cottage, comprised of an internal remodelling of the existing cellular layout to create a more open-plan family home. The scheme also included an extension to provide an additional bedroom, with the clients keen to adopt a contemporary material palette throughout the new intervention.
Concept: To reconcile the two contrasting architectural styles, a parapet gable has been introduced to the far elevation. The resulting void is expressed as a contemporary aluminium standing seam extension, creating an intervention that is clearly distinguishable from the historic fabric while subtly referencing its form and proportions. The composition is visually anchored by the existing stone wall to the far elevation, establishing a considered dialogue between old and new.
As part of the process we work closely with the client to offer options and make changes in collaboration with their wants and needs from the project.
We are currently offering free initial consultations for architectural projects so get in touch if you have a potential project that you would like to discuss!
