🧹Important Information recommended by HETAS

Sweeping Frequency Recommendations
The recommended schedule is based on the fuel type and usage levels:
Burning Wood/House Coal: Sweep at least twice a year.
Burning Smokeless Fuels: Sweep at least once a year.
High Usage: If the appliance is used very frequently, more regular sweeping may be necessary.

Optimal Timing
HETAS suggests timing your sweeps for maximum safety:
Before the Heating Season: Just before you start using the stove regularly.
After Prolonged Disuse: After the stove has been idle for a long period.
Peak Season: If sweeping twice, the second sweep should occur after the peak of the main heating season.

Urgent Warning Signs
You should book a sweep immediately if you notice:
Smoke blowback: Smoke entering the room while the appliance is in use.
Unusual Odours: Bad smells even when no fire is lit.
Visible Deposits: Signs of tar around the damper or flue entrance, or soot falling back into the stove.
Poor Combustion: The fire is not burning as well as it normally does.
Obstructions: Hearing scratching or seeing birds near the chimney top (indicating a potential nest).

🧹 Are you booked in for a sweep and wondering how you need to prepare? Then keep reading!

Firstly, we will give you a courtesy call the working day before your sweep to remind you of your appointment! πŸ“ž

We advise to make sure the area in front of the fireplace or stove is clutter free and easy to access. 🏠

Ensure the appliance has not been used the morning of the sweep, as it will be to hot for us to access and clean. πŸ”₯

Remove any unburnt fuel providing it is cool enough.🧹

βœ” These are the only things we advise doing prior to your sweep. We ensure to put sheets and covers down to keep the process mess free!
