🐦 Bird Nesting Season is Here!
A common misconception is that tree work cannot be carried out during bird nesting season. In reality, there is no blanket ban on tree work during the summer months.
Under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, the law protects active bird nests (those containing eggs, chicks,or being used by a sitting bird), not the tree itself meaning tree work can legally proceed during the nesting season provided no active nests are present.
At Maplebeck Tree Care, our qualified arborists carry out thorough pre-work inspections to check for nesting birds, nest building and other signs of breeding activity before any work begins.
If an active nest is found, all work in that area is paused immediately and postponed until the young birds have safely fledged and left the nest. Depending on the species, this usually takes between 3 and 10 weeks, after which work can often resume safely and legally.
Protecting wildlife while responsibly managing trees is at the heart of what we do. 🌳🐦
