Cheap flexible shower tray proved to be causing issues in this rental flat. Plumbers had done what they could to secure it within budget, but as you can see the bottom row of tiles still moved with the flex of the shower tray.
Cheap fix, clag as much silicone on the problem area, tile over with 60x 15cm tile strips. Each one with 4 full horizontal barriers of silicone behind them, as well as 2 stripes of gorilla glue.
Siliconed grout lines, and siliconed outer edges on the curved trim.
Not ideal, but neat. And now there’s 6 barriers of sealant for any water to get through.
