Beautiful dappled light through the trees. The Beech is a stunner and frames this arch. Thankfully, lots of mature trees in all gardens around us, limited scope to change that as this is a conservation area - perhaps that was a factor when we moved here. 😉

Happy Friday everyone! I’m going to pottering around here no doubt, alongside a bit of DIY over the weekend. What are your plans for the garden?

Tulip Spryng Break and Tulip Peppermint Stick - unbelievable this was 3 days ago before the much needed showers battered most of them. The garden is looking lush after the rain and I don’t have to water for another few weeks, so a win-win!

The very end of the garden, though the arches and trellis. It didn’t start out as a rose garden but slowly has become one, as they all do ! Roses grow well here as the soil is rich and soft, thanks to the previous owners keeping chickens here. It took a vast amount of time (and ££££s) to get rid of the nettles, elder, ivy from here and nearly 3 years on, it’s not too shabby.

I’m hoping for the roses to be much better this year due to the first round of heavy pruning done last winter. Let’s see 🤞

Golden hour in the garden. Tulips are beginning to look a bit tired and I think may just only last another week or so. It’s been a great year for most of them so not complaining of course. I’ll delay cutting back leaves completely if the perennials grow over them, something I’ve always aimed to do and partly succeeded with last year. A bit of a faff but well worth it as they need their leaves to put energy back for next year’s flowers.

Hope you’re having a great week. It’s meant to be sunny here but I’m now beginning to worry about the rain a bit - we aren’t gardeners if we’re not constantly worried about the weather!

My favourite border these days. Anemone Mr Fokker sprawling over the stone raised bed, Tulip Queen of the Night adorning the edges whilst Tulip Ballade brightens up the middle. Rosa Pierre de Ronsard is climbing up the stone wall with Clematis Montana snaking through and the far edges of the border have dwarf Mulberry trees just coming into leaf.

I didn’t design it exactly this way but when nature takes its course, that’s the most beautiful and utterly poetic outcome in my opinion.

Unlike the usual fast-paced reels, here’s a slow walk through the garden last night without any edits or filters. The pale coloured flowers all just shine for these brief moment before the darkness falls.

I know gardens are magical through the day but the nighttime garden is underrated in my opinion, don’t you think ?
