"A Lonely Evening with Daisies” acrylic on canvas 81CMX61CM, 2025 by Andrejs Ko
The sun hangs like a dusty lampshade, no longer warming but tinting the flower stems a pale yellow. In the glass, liquid sunlight is trapped. Drink, and your throat will burn with that very evening when you laughed, not knowing it was forever. When daisies were not a decoration for loneliness, but a wreath in her hair.
Now they stand in a jar. Their heads are bowed as if listening to the silence. Laughter drowns in it. Voices dissolve. All that remains is this slow, viscous light crawling across the tablecloth, trying to reach you.
Nostalgia is a dangerous drink. The first sip is warmth. The second is bitter truth. The third is the realization that nothing can ever be returned. That these daisies will never again smell of her perfume.
You raise the glass. Outside the window, the last stripe of light fades. The room is almost night. And only the white petals of the daisies glow in the dark, like tiny moons in a black sky. They do not remind you of her. They remind you of yourself — of the one who once believed that flowers and vodka on the table were only for celebrations.
The sun in the glass goes out. At the bottom remains only the bitter taste of a departed day and a slight burn on the lips — the seal of this evening, this solitude, these daisies that will stand here tomorrow when the sun comes again to color them.
Everything repeats. Only with each such evening you become a little more transparent. The pattern of shadows already shows through you. Soon, all that will remain of you is this evening ritual: the daisies, and the memory that aches quieter each time. Until it stops aching altogether.

"Pink Roses”, acrylic on canvas 71CMX51CM, 2025 by Andrejs Ko
They say that in old Jerusalem, pink roses were the only flowers permitted to bloom within the walls. Not the purple, not the scarlet—only these, the colour of the dawn over the Mount of Olives. They were a symbol of the path—from bud to blossom, from silence to prayer, from the human to the divine. A path to perfection that begins not in grand gestures, but in quietness.
These flowers are all I am permitted to carry through these iron and cold walls. They have no scent. They have been scentless for a long time. Their fragrance remained there, beyond the walls, in the hum of streets and the dust of centuries. But within their fragile petals lies a secret geometry, the pattern by which the universe folds itself out of nothing.
One must simply remember: even in the strictest isolation, in the most voluntary emptiness, a stubborn reflection of pink remains. The last permitted miracle. The final bridge between you and what you once called the world.
And it seems, if one were to touch them, a finger would perceive not the silk of a petal, but a quiet, continuous hum—the noise of the path these flowers have travelled to be here. In the silence. Within these walls.

"The Watering Can and the Dried Flowers”, acrylic on canvas 66CMX51CM, 2025 by Andrejs Ko
In the far corner of the garden, where no one has entered for a long time, a bouquet of flowers was forgotten. They were left to die on a white table.
Now their skeletons, desiccated and translucent—ghosts of a former beauty—cast shadows like cracks in memory. And the Watering Can is filled not with water, but with a darkness—heavy as lead.
The beauty that was so tended to proved but a fleeting guest. Beauty proved fragile, while the sorrowful thoughts, so diligently uprooted from memory like weeds, turned out to be the only ones who remained faithful to this place until the very end.
The flowers are no longer watered. No one admires them anymore. They are like joyful thoughts, forgotten deep in the folds of memory. They simply lie beneath the sun, slowly dying, turning to dust without regret.

"Cold White and Warm on Pink”, acrylic on canvas 71CMX51CM, 2025 by Andrejs Ko
The days have grown so short that the sun only manages to reach the table for a moment—at two in the afternoon—only to immediately release it from its warm hands for a full twenty-four hours.
White frozen forms, withdrawn into themselves. They do not reflect light—they absorb it, as ice absorbs warmth.
On the pink tablecloth—like spilled blood of the departed summer—a yellow apple preserves the memory of the sun. Its skin is a map of forgotten orchards, its color—a promise that will never be fulfilled.
You need no one, for only the depth of this blue matters now—the blue that hangs outside the window, the blue that gnaws from within. And the cold red to reproach it—like the last flare of life before the long silence. And in the evening, the emptiness screams louder, and you weep from loneliness...Winter is already here. And the apple on pink is but a monument to what we once called warmth.
